Does anyone know anything about the new Realize Lap-Band or been given a choice of lap-bands?

Thank you for your time.

I've never heard of it, is it a new one?  I've only heard of the Inamed (sp?) brand.  I had my surgery last February and wasn't given an option as far as different bands from different companies.  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me.

I also had Dr. Edwards and didn't have a choice.  I don't even really know the brand of band I have!  I didn't care, just wanted it done.  I noticed in your other post that people at the office were telling you not to do the band but do bypass.  As a bander, I don't know that I agree with that.  I love my band.  Yes, things are slower and it is easy to cheat it but after going through all that work to get the surgery, I sure don't want to cheat it now.  I had mine on 7-25-8-07 and I am down 70.8 pounds.  I realize most bypass patients would have lost that in the first month or two but it is still coming off.  I also can eat things that bypass patients might not be able too.  If you have questions about it, please ask.  There are pros and cons to both procedures and you have to do the one YOU feel comfortable with.

I also know there are some that will tell you if you have so much weight to loose that you need to do the bypass not lap band.  I don't believe that.  I would LIKE to loose 200 total to take me down to 150.  Is it going to take me longer, yup, but it can be done.   Again, do what makes your comfortable.   Jennifer

HI, I also am looking forward to the Lap Band surgery and Chris Edwards is also going to be my doctor. I posted a message earlier to the forum but I don't think that it has posted yet.Your story(life) is a great inspiration. I hope that I have a good success story also. My husband and I are also Foster parents and we also have a 12 yr old bio son. We live in Ozark now but previosly lived in Clever. I would love any advice, suggestions, or information in regards to the surgery and leading up to the surgery. Hope to add you as friend. Although I am not really sure how to yet. Meleta
