OMG(gosh)

I just got off the phone with my insurance company.  I had went to the seminar last night and they gave me a packet of info to fill out and lots of good info and especially in regards to local insurance companies and their requirements. It told me to contact a particular person at my insurance company and get the low down on the procedure to proceed with the bariatric surgery. Well all along I had read in my insurance coverages that you had to have at least 6 months of doctor documented nutrition and exercise and also a rep at the insurance co(not the one I talked to today) had told me I would have to attend the "New Image" exercise and nutrition which would be another 6 months of waiting. Well the lady at the insurance company told me today that if my Primary doctor has documented my weight, attendance, exercise info, nutrition info and I have had frequent visits that if I had them fax it to her that they may take that as my 6 months required since I have been seeing her since June of 2007 about the weight.!!!!!OMG(gosh) Could this actually work? I so hope so! They will not pay for the Lap Band but I am willing to have Roux-en-Y for my health and my quality of life. The lady at the Insurance company said that they have had as many people have problems with the Lap Band as they have had with the Roux-en-Y.I so hope that this moves a little faster than what I had originally thought!

THAT'S SOOOO AWWESOME!!!!!  My doc won't even do lap band anymore because it is too easy to cheat around it and people end up having surgery for nothing...RNY is the way to go...you won't regret it....congratulations!!!!!!!!   .....Nancy
