Joella had her baby at 7:30 this morning at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. Sarah Elizabeth weighed 2 lb. 12 oz., and is a little over 14" long.  I've never seen a baby so tiny!  I got to touch her and she grabbed my finger with her tiny hand.  Mom and baby are doing fine, and daddy is walking on Cloud 9.   Thanks for all the prayers. Congratulations!!!   That is exactly what Skyler weighed, but she was 15 1/4 inches long.   She was born April 5, (due June 6)  they said to expect her to stay in the hospital until her due date, but she got to come home May 15.  She had several things wrong with her at first, things that were typical for premies, but nothing long lasting.  Have you got to visit her in the NICU yet?  the first time I got to go see Skyler, I cried & cried.  I had never seen so many teeny tiny babies & when I got to Skyler I was so overwelmed by all the tubes & wires coming from her. She was so tiny I was afraid to touch her.   She got to come home the middle of May & was sick ALOT the first 2 years.  Lots of ear infections & had to do breathing treatments alot.  But she was such a good baby.  Seems like after those first 2 years, she was still sick more often than other kids, but nothing like at first.  Now she is 11 & you would never know that she was a premie.        Sorry, I had to share my story. I wish you all good luck.  Please keep us informed on how they are doing.    (((((Hugs)))))   Angy

Hello Patty,      I am so glad that the baby is here.  I am sure that she will get the best care at St.Lukes.  I had my twins there 11 weeks early.  One weighed 2 pounds and was 12 inches long and the other weighed in at 12 ounces and was 15 inches long.  The smallest one was in the NICU for 45 days and the other was in for 60 days.  I think that Sarah Elizabeth ( Great name it is also my sisters name, the baby will do great.)  My twins were due the 20th of May and I had them March 23 of 01.  You can not tell that they were preemies at all, Lauren my 12 ouncer is now 50 lbs and is 49" tall and Hailey is 45" tall and is 43 pounds.  Have faith in God and rest will come about.  Congrats tothe whole family!!! Kerri
