We left home about 4:30 this morning, got up to Columbia at 8am.  We had breakfast at Waffle House (only ate half & now my belly hurts)  anyway, got to Missouri Bariatrics by 9:30.  Dr. Sutmoeller was VERY nice!  I really liked him.  He answered everyone of my questions.  He asked me which surgeon I wanted to go with.  I told him that I wasn't sure, either Dr. de la Torre or Dr. Fearing.  I told him that I would like Dr. de la Torre, but the wait is probably longer for him. He said no actually they are about the same.  I asked how many surgeries each had prerormed.  He said that Dr. Fearing has performed 9 this year & Dr. de la Torre does 9 every week.  That made up my mind.  I know that Dr. Fearing is a wonderful person, but I think I would just feel more comfortable w/ de la Torre. -  anyway we went over the paperwork & seen my psych eval.   All the psychiatrist did was write a letter stating that I emotionally I would be a good candidate for surgery.  Dr. Sutmoeller said that it will have to be much more specific than that.  So I have to have them write a new report.  I asked him what other tests I would need before we could schedule surgery & he said non.    NON!!!!!   wooo hooo!!!!    no sleep study, no scope, no nutt'in!    I can't believe it.  So we are on our way home right now.  If we get back in time I am going to take this paper by the psychiatrist's office & get that on the way.  I am so happy & excited!  I wished it would go this smooth, but never dreamed it actually would.      ~Angy

Good luck Angy!! Dr. de la Torre is a wonderful surgeon. He did my sister's RNY 3 years ago. He also did 3 of my cousins and 2 friends of the family. 5 of the 6 are from down around our parts. They have all done great. I think you'll be happy with your choice. The only reason I didn't choose him is because I am self pay and chose a surgeon that that I would see throughout the process. In a lot of the bigger programs their are several doctors and you may not see the same doctor each time. Because my insurance doesn't cover wls and I'm paying out of pocket I was more comfortable going with Dr. Wagner. I know if I have any problems after surgery, I will see him and he'll know my history, etc. But if not for that de la Torre would be my first choice.
