How exciting!  I'm turning "some" of my paperwork in at tonights seminar.  I'm not quite sure what I need to do for the psych eval and anything else so I guess I'll find out tonight. BTW, how has the process gone for you?  I'm hoping to have De La Torre as my surgeon also. Good luck!

Sarah, They will give you all the paperwork you need to night at the seminar for the psych eval, lab work, PCP visit, all the good stuff we have to do before hand.   I am going to Missouri Bariatrics so things might be a little different, but things have went amazingly smooth for me.  They should give you a big list of lab work you will need to have your PCP order for you.  When I had this lab work done I found out that I am diabetic.  I have had high blood pressure for several years.  That is really the only propblems that I have, due to obesity.  So when I went to my initial consult last Friday (May 30), since I don't have heart problems, asthma or anything like that, he said that I wouldn't need any other tests prior to surgery & that I was ready to submit to insurance., then schedule my date.  The only thing was that my psych eval wasn't what they wanted.  The psychiatrist that I used, just wrote a VERY short letter saying that I had no contraindications that should keep me from having this surgery.  Unfortunatlly, MO Bar needed much more than that.  So yesterday I took the psych a paper that MO Bar gave me stateing their guidlines that needed to be addressed in the psych report.  They wrote a new letter for me and I faxed it to MO Bar yesterday afternoon.   ~~  Basically all went like this;  called MO Bar in late March just asking questions, she recommended that I attend a seminar on April 5,  They give me a packet of all papers that must be filled out prior to making your first appointment.  I had everything done by that following  Friday & scheduled my first appt. for May 30.  Then I had to wait. . . (these 2 months seemed like an eternity)  but during these 2 months I have really tried to change my eating habbits.  No more soda or tea w/caffine or sugar. Trying to learn to sip, sip, sip (this is a hard one) I like to gulp, gulp, gulp, specially when it's hot outside.  Since I am diabetic, my PCP wants me to stay away from white & sugary foods.  So I have really been working on that.  I have started walking, which will be VERY important post op.  I am really trying to change all of my bad habbits so it's not such a shock post op.  Oh & I've lost 10 - 12 just cutting all the sugars!!!      Dr. de la Torre is a fabulous surgeon.  I have had a few friends that have used him & I've read so much great things about him.  I feel totally comfortable  with him.  The only thing. . . I spoke with someone the other day that had him & they said that they never even met him.   I don't know who did their post op care in the hospital, but even with that, I know that he is a great surgeon & feel good with my choice.   I am expecting to have my surgery in July, I have a feeling that these 2 months will go MUCH faster than the prior 2, I have so much to do, plus with the 2 wk liquid protein diet.  Anyway,  I am very happy how things have went.  Hopefully everything goes just as smooth for you.   Please keep us all informed how things are going.  Or if you have any questions.  (I had a million!  lol)    Good Luck to ya!    Hugs, Angy
