Question for Dr. Edwards' Patients (Springfield)

I started a new job that has St. John's insurance, and while I didn't have Dr. Edwards as my surgeon, I have a question for those of you who did. Who is your St. John's PCP?  I would like to find a PCP who is not only WLS friendly, but WLS knowledgeable, as I have many, many issues. I REALLY appreciate your responses. Thanks so much! J.S.

I have Dr. Edwards and my PCP was very supportive of my surgery...problem is that I got a letter in the mail last week that told me Dr. Oliver was no longer with my clinic here.....  So.  I am not of help to you but if you find him at another clinic, sign up with him!  I am nervous to see *****places him.  I have had Dr. Oliver for many years.   Jennifer

My regular Dr is Dr Mark Schultz, he is with Skaggs Medical West Clinic in Kimberling City.  The surgery was his idea, and he assured me he would do what ever it takes to get my surgery done.  This waws reassuring, since my then husband at the time ( 4 yrs ago) blew me off.  Must I say I had surgery with Dr Edwards last Wednesday 5-28-08, and he is awesome! Dr. Schultz's number is 417-739-2520, I have St John's based insurance too (Med-Pay).

Thanks so much for your reply.  I am just figuring out this message board stuff.  :)  I posted a question about a support group here in Springfield and never got a single answer, so I must be doing something wrong. I live on the north side of Springfield, so Kimberling City would be too long a haul.  :)  But thanks so much anyway. I hope more of St. John's patients will respond.  Did I ask it wrong? J.S.

I just got back from Spfd and my 1st follow up.  It was great I get to have real food again!  Dr Edwards and Heather his PA are just great.   Maybe Kimberling wouldn't be so far for just a referral, I only had to see him the one time that he sent in my referral, and never had to go back...just a thought. I think I might come up Monday Night and go to the support group, my kids will be at their dad's, so I will just be home otherwise.  What kind of question did you have? Carol

So is there a support group in Springfield? You said you are North of Springfield, where are you located. I have submitted most of my paperwork to Dr. Hornbostel and am patiently (not) waiting. I had my psych eval today. Liz
