I am a little over 4 months post op and I have been having cravings for kosher dill spear pickles.  I eat a few a day they taste good to me and they agree with my pouch however I don't eat the peeling or skin of them just eat around that but every day I have got to have a pickle or two.  This started about a week ago don't understand it has anyone else had weird food cravings? I used to be a huge bread eater now I can't eat it, it's like I don't like it or something but it's weird that I don't want bread.  I can't even eat a flour tortilla which I used to like too, I just eat whats on the inside of it and leave the rest.   Will I ever want bread again is this just part of the package? Salad is another biggie I loved salad now sometimes it doesn't agree with me will that ever get better? I have also been craving veggies cooked all different ways.  Now before surgery I liked veggies but now it's like I would rather eat veggies then anything else.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. hehe....Be thankful your craving is not carbs. As long as you are taking your protein in another way your cravings are a gift. Everyone is different and as you go you will be able to eat different things. Some things you'll be able to eat again and some maybe not. Just take it slow and allow your inside wounds to heal. It will be sensitive for sometime.

Hi Bev- First of all-you LOOK FANTASTIC!!!! AWESOME and SO PRETTY.....Congrats!!!!~~ I felt like I was reading about myself in this post. All of it sounded just like what I went through-right down to the pickles and no skin. LOL...Now I eat the claussen (the ones you find in the fridge section at the store) the baby dills-they are snappy AND the ONLY pickle I can eat the skin on without my pouch getting upset. I couldnt do bread either and I am 19 months out and still really dont care to-once in awhile I will have a toasted 1/2 pc of wheat or something, but its so rare. I dont miss it though.  I also didnt ever do spicy before I had RNY and now-if it can light my rear on fire and make me sweat-I LOVE IT-crazy huh?  It seems like if its crunchy, I do a lot better than not-like tortilla shells. I can do the taco hard shells, but not soft. I cant do any pork except bacon-crispy, I do my bacon in the oven.....and I cant do stringy meats, like roast.  Its weird.  On the salads, I have that problem STILL-I have to have fresh lettuce-it cannot be the bagged lettuce. So, when I go to a restuarant, I always ask before I order a salad.....if its bagged and has preservatives,  I dont bother, because it will make me dump. Maybe your having the same experience?  Love the veggies too-Let us know how it goes-and again-you look fantastic-I am so thrilled for you!!!!  Take care, Janet

Bev,
You look soooooooo fantastic. Isn't it amazing how our tastes change. I went through the pickle phase and, like Janet, eat the little dills skin and all. Not as many as I once did but they are basically calorie free and as long as they agree, go for it. I only like bread toasted - seems as if it balls up in my pouch otherwise. I am just as glad I don't care much for it anymore. I am 18 months out and it's harder now. The carb MONSTER is living at my house right now and I'm really fighting him - I know it's a him because he's EVIL. Salad works for me if it's iceberg lettuce - seems as if I need the crunchy stuff so I'll chew it really well. I used to love those bagged Spring mix etc but now I'm the queen of iceberg.
Have a good time learning and loving your new self.
Hugs,
Lana

Hi Lana, Just had to tell you something-when I was reading your post about the carb MONSTER....I had to smile because I had a vision. At our house-we have the MONSTER TERMINATOR-its a huge water squirter and many times we have had to shoot (pretend of course) the closet AND under the bed for monsters before Jon goes to sleep-so I had this vision of you, with the combat black under your eyes, all dressed in camo-carrying around that huge water squirter (it has a back pack-thats how huge it is)....and shooting the carb monster....Hope that made you smile, as I did.  Love ya Lana.  Janet
