I'm here and still kickin'

This AM Janet called me and said you all were worried about me. I've been out of touch lately - just busy and lazy. AND the new person we hired for the vacancy in my office posted immediately for a higher paying job and after about three postings got one and her last day is Friday so again I'll be alone in the office most of the time. Human Resources has told me it will be 8-10 weeks before we can get someone so that puts me right smack dab in the middle of the first couple of weeks of the Fall semester. As Andrew would say Aye-Yi-Yi!!!
I'll be a disaster after that. I'm trying to stay positive about it but it's gonna be hard. First semester Freshmen are especially needy! If any of you are in the Springfield area and are looking for Administrative support positions there are 15 openings at MSU right now. It's crazy. I love my job and love working at MSU but evidently not everyone feels that way. And we've had several retirements at the end of the term too.

JANET-I'm so excited for you and Mike and Megan and Aaron. What a joy new babies are. You'll be awesome grandparents and your kids will be great parents too. I suggest Lana as a name for the upcoming granddaughter. It's a great name - not many of us around and hard to nickname. Just a thought - hint-hint!
Maybe I'll just call her Little Lana no matter what you name her!! Now there's a plan that requires no compliance by the parents and grands. Yes, that's it!!
Of course if it's a boy that could be a problem.

JAN - I can't wait til Monday night to see everyone. I'm still having a hard time with carbs - they chase me around the house, I swear!!! John is wanting to lose about 20 pounds and it's hard for me to know what to cook for him. I'm a Southern belle cook who just puts flour on everything and dumps it into the grease. Not a good way for him to lose weight. Last weekend I made chicken and dumplings - OOOOh La La they were good but I didn't over do it. John doesn't like them so I just closed my eyes and dumped the leftovers down the disposal. I hate to waste food but I hate more to wear it!!
Everyone is doing so great and looking so wonderful. I can't call the role so I'll just say that I read your posts and love every one of you to death. I do pray for all the Missouri OH folks every morning and night and know that God has blessed us over and over. We've had some wonderful healings and He continues to hear our voices.

My DGS is still in Michigan visiting his other Grandparents and will not be home til July 5th. I think DD has missed him way more than she thought she would. We didn't do anything spectacular for Father's Day. Had cards and calls from all of John's kids and my Stacy. Since my Dad is gone I don't get quite as excited about Father's day and that's my own fault.

I have started carpooling three days a week with a woman who works in Nursing Dept. She's great and it means I drive to work 14 days a month instead of 20. We are trying it this way and may go to four days a week if we want too. That's at least a tank of gas saved a month. I'm hoping the university will start up van pools so we can just leave our cars at home. Would be so great.

John has a homeowners board meeting tonight so I'd better go and tell him goodbye.

Love you all.

Lana

Howdy Dear Lana Lady...

It is so good to see you post.  I have you in my prayer journal and pray regularly for you.  How are you doing with the RA?  I pray it is not bothering you too badly.   Sure wish I could come to the meetings in Springfield again and see all you wonderful people and do plan to hopefully before surgery... maybe I will just celebrate and come see you all.... even though the gas prices are astronomical... and going to get worse they say... I don't blame you for carpooling... I think I need to get Paul a motorcycle... but then I would want to ride it all the time! ~tee hee  Oh goodness wouldn't THAT be a sight! ~tee hee Anyway I just wanted to say it is so good to hear from you precious lady! bec

Lovely Lana:

So great to “see” your smiling face on the board again!  I wish I did live close to Springfield , I just might apply for an Administrative position at MSU!  I’ve been seriously considering going back to work.  Haven’t worked in over 14 years and not sure I could do it full-time.  I’ve been praying a lot about what the Lord wants me to do with the rest of my life.

Glad to hear you’re doing well.  Are you going to try and make it to the WLS reunion again this year?  I’m going to do my best to be there.  I really would like for my dh to come with me.  Would be great to see you again!

We’re doing fine.  My oldest has been in Tokyo, since last Tuesday on a mission trip.  We pick him up in Salina, KS Thursday night around 8pm.  I truly have missed him!  I know the Lord has a might plan for Luke’s life, if Luke will be obedient to Him.  My youngest son, Jake is at Brown Sea Training for Boy Scouts.  It’s the second highest level of leadership training for the boys.  He will be back Friday night.  I must admit, I enjoy my alone time, however, will be glad when all my kids are back under my roof!

Keep us posted on how you’re doing! Hopefully, they will hire someone sooner than 8-10 weeks so it won’t be so hard on you!

Love you!

Hi My Lovely Lana, I have to laugh at the name thing-cause the babys middle name is going to be LeeAnna. Lee for me and Anna after my grandma....so-  Lana LeeAnna? How funny would that be? I will sure run it across Megan and Aaron-LOL.....I bought my first baby thing yesterday-a little camo onesie (cause Mike and I hunt and wear camo) anyway-it says Major Cutie across the front and can be either boy or girl!!! So cute!! I cant wait. I will for sure be bringing her to one of the meetings so all of my extended family can see her too when she gets here!!!  Anyway-I love ya, you know that and I pray for you every single day!! You mean so much to me.  Please take care and just pop in every once in awhile and say hey-Im still here, k?  Love ya!  Love, Janet
