what to keep on hand?
I have been buying protein drinks for my two week prep,I hope to get a date for surgery soon. I know I should wait till I know what the doctor wants me to have but I have to preplan all this.( I bought what was in the book) I was wondering what I would need in the beginning. I have bought liquid and chewable vitamins, protein powder and a sample pack of meal replacements. Has anyone eaten baby food? I thought about stocking up on some. I also heard Vienna sausages were good to have. I always try to be over prepared I guess but I am ready to get this show on the road. I am ready for my new improved healthy self.
Hi Susie!! You can get some sugar free jello, SF KoolAid, Crystal Lite, Chicken & Beef Broth ( I couldn't stand the regular broth so I strained chicken noodle soup & vegetable soup) I've never tried baby food, jus****ch the sugars & fat in them. You probably wont be able to eat the vienna sausages for a while. I am almost 6 wks out & still having trouble with soft foods like eggs & potatoes. I'm still doing alot of soups.
When is your surgery date?
Good Luck to ya!!! Angy
Dear Susie,
I think Angy described it best. I lived on sf jello and popsicles. Also-I bought the boullion cubes and made my own broth because the canned stuff was nasty tasting to me. One thing you want to be careful of-being overpre-pared and over buying is that some things you LOVE right now-YOU WILL NOT LIKE, post op. It may be too sweet after. I LOVED grape and orange crystal light and sf kool aid pre-op-but post op-it was too strong tasting and way too sweet! I had to water it down a bunch!!! I didnt want to waste ANY money-so I lived with my overloading...LOL for a couple of months!!!
Its natural to be excited, and I am certainly not trying to burst your bubble-just know that things get expensive and you may not want them post op!! Time will tell. I would get my measurements done now-and my BEFORE pics-ALL Full length-front and back AND BOTH SIDE veiws-YOU WILL HATE IT-BUT WILL THANK US LATER!!!! PROMISE! YOU HAVE TO DO THIS! TRUST ME!!!!
Lets see-get yourself a food journal and IF you need some "chewing" on the liquid diet if you have to do one-grab sunflower seeds-chew em up and spit em out! Worked like a charm!
Good luck hon and let us know IF there is anything else we can do for you...A lot of us post on the Whats Happening Monday (or whatever day of the week it is) Please join us there sometime so we can get to know you!!! We LOVE OUR NEWBIES!!!
Congrats! Love, Janet
