Friday I am flying Southwest Airlines to Denver for a visit with my brother and his family.  Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but here goes.....

How do you check in a suitcase?  I flew to KC from Nashville this summer but had a small carry-on bag.  What do you do with the big suitcase?

Hi Patty..

KCI is really pretty user friendly.  You will go to terminal B to the check in (around gate 33 I think) and just go straight to the desk with your bags.  They will check you in (after checking ID and normal stuff) and you then take your suitcase to the xray guy.  You will either have to have it unlocked or stand there while it goes thru the xray in case they want to check inside. We keep ours locked so we go early so as not to clog up the wait.  (I'm pretty sure Southwest does it like everybody else)  That's it....pretty easy, I think.

Have a safe trip

You can also check your bag at the Skycap that is located out side when you get out of a car.  They do the same thing as inside except you don't have to lug it around. Have a safe trip and check for delays, we were in the city last Thursday with the big ice storm coming in,...didn't get out of there till after 10 at night took us 3 hours to get home because it was so bad out.  I am hoping I don't have to go up there for that for a while.

Good luck with the air travels all of you and as for the Skycap you don't tip them.  This isn't the old Skycap as you might of seen in the movies where they take your bags and haul them for you, this is a check-in station furnished by the airlines for your covenice.  It is set up by the curb and you check-in just like you would at the ticket counter.  The are out in the cold just like you are, not sure they will be there if it's really cold or not.  I am not sure if they even take tips.  I would say not.
Have fun and be safe.

Not sure what's up with OH, as you drive up to the curb and looking for the gate numbers you will see a sign that says Skycap, that's where you go.  I hope I have explained it where you can understand it.  Good luck with it and hang in there.  It is really crazy up there.

HUMMMMMMMM! Every where Ive flown from that has a skycap has a sign by his little potium that says tips excepted....and one even told me one time that he expects a tip if I used his service. It is customary to give $1 or $2 per bag is what Ive heard...
