WHATS HAPPENING SUNDAY
I have only gotten 2 seed catalogs so far and I actually enjoy looking thru them. We hope to have another big garden this year with all our favorites. I have to make salsa this year as I opened my last jar the other day. We like a brick of cream cheese with the salsa poured over it and tortilla chips - its a fast & easy treat. Jalopenia jelly is also good that way. Hoping the herbs come up this year in the tubs so the only ones I will have to start is cilantro, parsley & basil. Also would like to grow some marjoram as its a milder form of oregano.
Have not done anything useful this weekend except make some raisin bread for Dad. I experimented with the english muffin bread recipe and added splenda, raisins and cinnamon and am waiting for it to raise before baking it.
You all have a great day!
Sandy
Coldwater creek on the other hand had some great buys. I picked up several things there in a size smaller than I wear. I bought some warm weather stuff I better fit into by my trip. I have till the end of March to get down to where they look ok on.I figure 20 pounds should do it. Now I have a deadline to push myself for.
Deb C do not worry about Monday. You will be fine and skinny before you know it.
Lou , seventy pounds? Wow ,I can't wait to see you.
Off to church this morning. Dh and I have nursery duty this morning. WE will need naps this afternoon. Have a wonderful Sunday.
Yes, I'm alive and still kicking! (Just ask my dh! LOL!) I've been "lurking" just not posting.
Jan, my hubby wants to retire to San Antonio. We had such a great time there a few years ago. Took the boat ride on the River Walk, at at "Dick's" on the River Walk. David's Dad and Step-Mom had recommended it. They always ate out on the river-walk at Dick's. Well, we had 3 kids with us so we went inside. We had the RUDEST waitress you could ever imagine. By the time we left, DH was so MAD that he just signed the receipt and didn't even fill out the tip. Needless to say, the waitress penciled in a 15% tip. She could have given herself a $100. I told DH that he could never do that again. When he called to complain about the 15% and the service the manager was said that their rudeness is what they were known for. That's why they called the Place "Dick's"! I kid you NOT. So I would advice not to go there!! Plus the restrooms where filled with all kids of sexy looking men and women....just not appropriate for the kids. Needless to say, when we told Al & Doris (David's Dad and Step-Mom) they were horrified! They had never had that experience there and had never stepped inside the restrooms.
We also went to the Alamo. We all love American history and it was so great to be there in person. We took a tour of all the different old churches in town and we went to the Ripley's Believe or Not Museum. What fond memories it brings back! David is always telling me we need to go back. Maybe we will someday...
We are all doing okay. The weather has been relatively warm (in the low 40's today and yesterday). To night is the Men's Chili Cook Off tonight at church. David won two years ago. He's entering again this year. He's making extra hot chili. We'll see who wins, it is always a lot of fun!
Jake's 14th Birthday was last week. He had the flu
for two days. It was horrible! I am praying the rest of us don't get it! Jake did have a great basketball game last Thursday. The game was tied 23 to 23 with 3 seconds left on the clock. Another kid made a great pass to Jake and Jake made the final basket for the winning two points! He always made 2 free throws during the game and another basket or two. Needless to say, it was a great game! I really enjoy Basketball much more than Football. I think it's because I can follow the game better.
Luke has been getting his ducks in row to get ready to go to college in the fall. He is now wanting to be a High School Political Science Teacher. He and his Dad went to Emporia State last week. He really wants to attend that school However, we have a guy at our troop who makes his living at helping students find $$ for college. He spent two weeks with Luke right after Christmas. So we have a plan and we have to work the plan. I am going to continue to trust the Lord that Luke will be able to attend college and not have to go too far in debt!
DH is still looking for a job. He's only had two interviews and one of those were with a Head Hunter. She wanted to know every he's applied, etc. We decided not to go that route..at least for now. I have noticed the past week or so that there are more jobs being posted on the various job search sites. Will continue to trust the Lord that He has the perfect job in store for David. God is Good All The Time, All the Time God is Good!
Deb - It's great to see you on the board. Are you feeling better? I will continue to pray for you. Did they finally figure out what was wrong? I did get the hospital number from Janet and did try to call but the number was busy. I had a busy afternoon and by the time I was going to call you again you had been released. I'd love to chat with you sometime!
Janet - Where are you girl? I'm glad they finally found out the answer to some of your pain. Will continue to pray that there is some way to help with your pain. You are such a sweet person! McKenzie is going to be making her appearance soon isn't she! You will be a WONDERFUL Nana!

How is everyone today? Is everyone watching the football games to see who is going to be in the superbowl??
I just wanted to get in here real quick and let ya know that I am alive n' kicken. I think this has been the busiest, craziest week I have had in forever! Ever since my trip to KC on Tues, I have been absolutely MISERABLE-I have broken my eye tooth IN HALF, vertically...gone-and no dental ins......thurs night, stephanie moved out of my moms house and so here we go again....she is living with me on the days she does not work and when she works-she is living with her biological dad and his "life partner". Ok-so Thurs night-1 am, power goes OUT....It was below zero temp and windchill was -15....so guess what? We have central heat-PROPANE, but of course-it doesnt work when power is out......and the fireplace is very small and the blower doesnt work when the power is out...well, I stayed up all night long so I could keep the wood on the fireplace and keep the boys warm-went down and tried to get grandma to come up here and I about froze my rear off-but she doesnt have a fireplace like we do and Mikes parents do, so I was concerned. She told me that if it didnt come back by 7-8 am, she would come to one of our homes. We got power back at 5:35 am, and I went and got a couple of our electric heaters and put them in their bedroom to help get a jump on heating the house-and I had left one with grandma-because I thought she had a little generator from last year when we had the ice storm, but she didnt.....I still left it there so when power came back on-she could use it too.....well-out here in the boonies-we have a well, and so when the power went out-we didnt have any water-so we couldnt run our water..... so guess what? yep, ALL our pipes froze. Thank God that they didnt burst when they thawed, however, it too****il yesterday WITH elec heaters on them, to get them thawed in the laundry room. Had a lot of running to get Steph back and forth to work and to pick up her b-friend and take him back home and all of that.
So-Friday, I went to MY Pharmacy, that I have been filling my scripts at for 10+ yrs and MY Pharmacist couldnt figure out WHY medicare is having issues with my rx coverage. So, get home and I was on the phone with several different companies and medicare reps for OVER 2 hours and I just couldnt hold any longer-my nurse called me and ALL my testing is tomorrow already! She also said that they have requested the results to be back by the 23rd!!
Went into town to take Steph to work yesterday and stop at Food 4 Less-well, we had gone to Carthage first to drop off her b-friend and that voice was telling me NOT to go on the freeway and to drive slowly. Well-the reason for that was a blowout and I am talking the tire in PEICES and that thing is huge!!!! It sounded like a shotgun and it jolted ALL of us, thank God that I didnt hit the car head on that it threw us in front of! Guess what? Remember when I told you guys that just a couple of months ago someone came up-right in front of grandma basically (was in her yard at the end of the driveway) and they STOLE our 2 new tires we had? Well-yes, they had stolen our spare-so NOTHING! Needless to say-our GMC is still in Joplin since it was too late for the tire places-they were already closed! We decided we were just going to get the tire machine so we could change our own tires all the time-well, of course, they were out of stock and wont have them in until Weds. CRAPOLA! So, first thing in the morning, Aaron is coming to get me and we are going to go get that taken care of before my testing at the hospital. Stephanie doesnt have school tomorrow so she is going to babysit Jonathan for me.
Megan had her OB appt on Friday and her dr told her to go home and get her bag packed, she can go any time now. She has been having Braxton Hicks and is thinning or whatever. YAY! Now she goes every week! They also think they have a house-they find out tomorrow. PLEASEEEEE Pray that they DO get this house. They meet the man tomorrow, and he said if we painted all the inside rooms and we shampood the carpets etc-that they would not have to give the deposit-would just move in on Feb 1st! Very cute little house-but perfect for them and not a busy street either and right next to them is a huge empty lot-and on the other side of that, is a beautiful park-safe one-for even the littlest tots......Love the house-hope they get it-because right when the Suburban broke down, Megan called and asked if they could move in with us until they found another place too.......WOW!
So, PLEASE pray for me-I need peace and strength. Also for my testing tomorrow, thanks. Also, if you could say some prayers for Megan and Aaron, that they officially get their house tomorrow. Also, if you could pray that our suburban doesnt get vandalized. We will get it home tomorrow....just one more night, thanks so much. For everyone on the board who is ill, getting ready for surgery, has family issues, money issues or their loved ones are hurting for whatever reason-your in my thoughts and prayers! Love, Janet
Like sands thru the hour glass..so is the Days of our Lives! I swear to goodness girl, Janet your life sounds like a soap opera. I wish you could have a calm uneventful week or two so you could just concentrate on taking care of yourself...
I will lift all of your requests before the mighty KING of KINGS.
Deb D I want you to know too that I am still praying for the job situation...miss seeing you on here.
Sis, hope your having the time of your lives. We are painting the upper half of the room and I will have to wait about 12 more days for my wallpaper to come in. But Im getting excited about getting this room done. I am considering moving my pc back to the kitchen so I dont feel so alone back here...dont know yet. Anyway. When will you get to Teresa's place?
Hope everyone is having a grand evening....and praying for peaceful tomorrows for everyone....
GOD is my ROCK! SUGAR
