LapBand revision w/o having the band in anymore?

I'm confused. I had the band in a few years ago, but it slipped and they had to remove it.

So I'm looking at having surgery again, but not sure which one.

Regardless, why is this considered a revision? How do you revise something you no longer have?

And why do no doctors want to help me?

It's not my fault it slipped, it was put in incorrectly to begin with.

Any advice here?

I would try contacting Missouri Bariatrics in Columbia, they do revisions, even though this might not be considered a revision I'd still contact them, they are good and up to date on most everything concerning Bariatric Surgery.

Missouri Bariatrics (573) 882-5673

Hope that helps.

I'm not sure but this might  be why...

I do know that when the band is placed that there is some type of suturing to hold it in place.  Some drs. use different techniques.  Some really tack it down and others use a running suture like a granny purse string configuration.

Even though your stomach was not resected and the bowel wasn't altered there WAS a surgical procedure done on your anatomy hence the word REVISION.  There would be some scarring even though the band is no longer there.

I'm sorry that you had to go through the expense, time, trouble and recuperative pain from the band surgery only to have it fail you.  I know that there are alot of very good drs. in the MO area that are very capable of helping you....

best wishes and let us know what you find out!
