Daily Bible Reading - Wednesday July 1st

Once again the devotional hit me square between the eyes.  It really seems on days the Lord speaks to me through the Word and other days its through the devotional, whatever and however it is, He has really been speaking and so clearly.  I think we’ve all had times in our lives that we didn’t want to do this or that, I know I have.  Reading the devotional this morning really put some things in perspective for me.  It really is the small things that add up in our lives making bigger things.  If we can’t be faithful in the small things, how can they add up to the big things?  They can’t, can they?  It really hit me, if we can’t be trusted to do the little things, how can God trust us with a big thing?  I know for me I really need to work on the smaller things better, for instance,  I hate pulling weeds outta the garden, I made a flower garden out front along with one that was already there, they both have some really pretty flowers in them but the grass and weeds had just about took over.  I love mowing the grass and other things but its those darn weeds and grass I just for some reason don’t like to pull.    I finally pulled some grass and weeds outta the one, then quit.  Already it looked so much better.  A few days later I noticed Jan had been out there and cleaned out the other one which made it look so nice and after reading this it really hit me, if we aren’t faithful in the small things God gets others to do it and He wont move us on to the bigger things.  From today forward I choose to be more faithful in the small things, even if it means pulling weeds.  Gotta be faithful in the little so God can move us to the bigger.

Daily Devotional

Luke 16:10

"He who is faithful in a very little [thing] is faithful also in much, and he who is dishonest and unjust in a very little [thing] is dishonest and unjust also in much"

Many people today are not experiencing God’s favor like they should simply because they’re not passing what I call, the small test. We have to be faithful with the little things in our lives before God will entrust us with bigger things. For example, being excellent in the workplace for you may not mean some huge adjustment. It may just mean leaving ten minutes earlier so you can get to work on time. It may mean not complaining when your supervisor asks you to do something. It may mean not making personal phone calls on company time. You might think, “It’s just a small thing. Nobody knows. It’s not hurting anything." But the Scripture says, “It’s the little foxes that spoil the vines." Don’t let the seemingly small things keep you from the big things God has in store. No, it’s time to come up higher. It’s time to be faithful, even when nobody’s looking

I encourage you today to make the decision to come up higher. Choose to be faithful with the little things so that God can bless you and make you ruler over much!

Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, I choose to be faithful in all things. I repent right now for anything that I’ve done that has been displeasing to You. Help me by Your Holy Spirit to rise up higher so that I can be ready to embrace all You have for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Wow was the Word chocked full of good stuff this morning...

First in the old testament this stood out to me, I will have to ponder on this today and see what the Lord will say to me... tough stuff.

"Against whom have you raised you voice and lifted your eyes in pride?

Against the Holy One of Israel!  By your messengers (messages) you have heaped insults on the Lord...."

This leads me to examine myself ... have I "heaped insults" on my precious Lord by my actions or attitudes?  WOW!  So many of the kings dishonored the Lord by not recognizing His sovereign power, commands and Lordship... it most usually got them in big trouble!!!  How much "trouble" can I save myself by being humble and giving God his rightful place in all areas of my life.

As we read on in the new testament Paul was the perfect example in this reading of giving his WHOLE self to the Lord in being willing to give his life for the cause of Christ... even when they tried to persuade him to stay in a safer place... now that's total surrender!

In the Psalms we see that the Lord "takes delight" in His people and "crowns the humble with salvation".. now that's exciting!

Then in Proverbs once again I are admonished to guard my lips and not fall into gossip as it takes a firm grip in our lives, and as we know it is not a positive grip either.  Our words are so powerful either to lift up or tear down.

Andy... I agree with you about the devotion!  I sure can use a reminder of being faithful in "all" areas of my life... big or "small"... I know to do this it takes constant discipline.  I think for me this past year it has been with exercise... the Lord has taught me so much thru this... He has required me to be disciplined but also He has shown me that He is the provider of the strength to accomplish the commitments we make to Him.  There are so many areas we need to be faithful in.  What a wonderful encouragement we received to do just that this morning!

Andy take care as you move I will be praying that all goes smoothly and you will be back with us soon.

Blessing to you and Susan,

Andy here is something that i have come to realize and use as rules.....Big things are made of a lot of little things.    You never get the big thing done if you dont do all the little things first.

Such as a pretty flower garden.  small step planting seeds, 2 watering 3. weeding 4. fertilizing...all of these are small steps but the large thing you have is a beautiful flower garden.... Life is the same way....
God is pleased when we can follow all the little steps what ever the final thing might be.   Some one ask me once about how do you get a green thumb......i said that you first have to get that thumb brown and black with dirt....lol
I know this may not sound like it is much of a devotional but i think it is . God wont trust you with the big things if you dont learn how to do the little things.
Doing the right thing when no one is watching....
