Well I look forward to meeting you. I have met 2 people so far and we agreed that this is indeed a good idea to have a local support group.
Who is your doctor?
I see the NUT next Thursday. Can't wait. I originally went to Dr Woodman and got as far as seeing the video and was scheduled for pro-op tests but he wasn't in network and I couldn't afford to pay up front. Now I am with Dr Weaver and so I see her NUT next week as I said above.
I think we are going to have a meeting probably the last Sunday of August at another persons house. I told her just to serve tea and I am looking to make samples of protein shakes, the best friend of post-ops.
Again as soon as I get an exact date I will let you know.
In the meantime I am asking everyone to e-mail me at [email protected]
Yes that is my name, Nancy M Weasel. I thank my husband for the greatest name on the planet...oh my.
You can call or e-mail me as I don't come here that often. I go to bariatriceatig.com and use their forums. I encourage everyone to do so. This is the best bariatric website and recommended by more bariatric surgeons/nutritionists. It is staffed by its owner a 7 year post-op, a NUT/nurse, a chef, and doctors.
I hope to hear from you soon.

Topic: Jamaican Pork Loin
Post Date: 7/28/08 7:27 pm
We had the best tenderloin EVER!!! I found a recipe on the internet. OMG! it was soooo tender and good. Recipe is as follows:
Jamaican Jerk Pork Loin
5-6 thick slices of pork tnederloin
1 can pineapple junks, in its own juice
1 lime
lime zest
Jamaincan Jerk Seasoning
1 tbsp honey
fresh lettuce mix ( I used spring mix)
cantaloupe
purple onion
Preheat oven to 400 degrees, rub both sides of pork with jerk seasoning. Drain pineapple, reserving juice. Zest lime into reserved pineapple juice, juice lime into pineapple juice. Place pork into a baking dish, pour half of pineapple juice mixture over pork. Turn oven back to 350 degrees adn bake until tender. While tenderloin is baking, add 1 tbsp honey and 1 tsp jerk seasoning to remaining pineapple juice. Place mixed greens into large bowl, thinly slice onion and place over lettuce, place pineapple junks over top of onions, add cantaloupe pieces over pineapple. Pour juice mixture over lettuce and fruit, toss well and place in frig. until pork is done. Serve salad with pork loin. YUM!!!!!
I placed my salad and dressing into a plastic bowl with a lid. About every 5 minutes, I would shake the bowl to cover all veggies and fruit with the dressing. The recipe sounds a little odd, but it is really really good. The honey and lime are a nice compliment to the fruit.

* the original posting had the wrong month. I apologize for the inconvenience. ~ Tammy
There is another Support Group that has formed in Hattiesburg, meeting the fourth Tuesday of every month.
Tuesday, July 29th
6:00 pm
Office of Dr. Beverly Smallwood
206 South 28th Ave. (across from the Super D)
Hattiesburg, MS 39401
601-264-0890
The closest Lap Band surgeon to Hattiesburg is Dr. Avara in Ocean Springs. He will be my surgeon. His office is now hosting these monthly meetings in Hattiesburg. They have only been doing this for the past 4 months. And I haven't been yet, but I plan to go next Tuesday night to check it out.
I thought I would pass along this information just in case any of you also wanted to come.

I love the salad. It is also really good to toss in a few fresh strawberries if you have them. I love fruit in salad. It is super easy and really good! Hope you enjoy!

We are going to have the cheesy crock pot chicken on Tuesday night since it will be easy. My mother n law will be here tomorrow. I have a cardio boot camp class Tues. night and don't get home until about 6:15. So I thought that would be a good night to let the crock pot cook. My mouth is watering reading about that salad. That sounds wonderful. Will have to try that too.

Shel,
Glad you like the Cheesy Chicken. I LOVE it too...lol! The best part, it is so darn easy! I made the Pecan Crusted Chicken for supper, couldn't wait for Sunday dinner, haha. We liked it as well, served it with fresh mixed green salad w/mandarin orange slices, red onion, dried cranberries and raspberry vinegrette.
