You just answered my question.  I have been using de'caf coffee, cinnnamon, nutmeg, rum and mint extracts (still looking for almond and orange) but my husband said that maybe these were not allowed.  Not a fan of the crystal light as it makes the shake toooo sweet.  I am 4 days into the pre-op diet, which is not very far, but I find I really need the variety.

Topic: Doctoring up your shakes

Hi Folks, I just had a question about changing up the shake flavors, I have been using cinnamon, nutmeg, d'caf coffee, artificial rum and mint extracts.  I didn't give it a second thought to using these items but my husband said that possibly I should ask you all if these are items you used or if they are not allowed.  I tried the crystal light but I found it made the shakes very sweet.  Any thoughts would be very appreciated, this is day 4 of the pre-op shake diet.

Thanks

Ellie

Must not be.  We were told at our info session that we could add them to our boost.

I think they are in with the spices at the grocery store.  It would be in the same place you get your vanilla extract for baking.  I bought orange, mint and almond.  Added to my chocolate boost it tasted like a Terry's chocolate orange, a Laura Secord mint bar and a cherry chocolate.  I can honestly say I enjoyed every single boost that I drank,
