I had no pain as well. It's weird after them cutting your stomach off that you can't feel any of that! But I think the stomach doesn't have any pain receptors. And the laparascopic cuts didn't bother me either. Basically the only pain from the surgery was the gas! It's incredible.

So here I am ten weeks out. Been at the same weight for six weeks. It's easy to fall in old patterns of not eating healthy. I don't know if that's what's going on, but I need help to come up with things to eat! So tired of scrambled eggs and cheese. Please tell me what you guys eat for protein meals! TIA
Well it's done. Yesterday Dec 3rd I had my VSG and have started a new chapter in my life. I am still in Bathurst hospital as I write this, but going home tomorrow. I must be one of the lucky ones, cause this was not that painful at all. The whole medical team was amazing. Dr. Semerjian took great care of me and had me in and out of the OR in about 1hr30mins. No issues. Moved into the brand new 'Step-Dow ICU unit' that just opened last week for the night. Great personal care. Met with the doc and the NUT this morning then up to the 3rd floor this afternoon then home tomorrow. Gas pain is the big thing but is more discomfort than anything. No vomiting, a bit of nausea last night, but good today. Applejuice for breakfast this morning was like a steak dinner after the living hell of 2weeks on boost. That being said though, the Boost did its job by helping to shed 32lbs off my frame in two weeks. If you can get by the boost, YOU GOT IT MADE. It sure feels different today swallowing. You can feel your tiny sip of water go through the valve into the new sleeve literally and then can fell it touch the walls of your new tiny stomach. Not painful, but feels odd. Am I hungry ! Yes I think, but it's probably acid churning, but they administer Pantelock in your IV which is great. Took five years from me asking my family doctor for a referral to my very first appointment in Bathurst July 24, 2014, then a little more than 4months later I'm on the other side now to begin this new journey and am ready to start eating to live and enjoying life. Walk, walk, sip, sip.....and so it begins. Im a luck guy to be given this new chance at life. Feeling gassy yet greatful all in the same tiny burp. :)
So you asked your family doctor for a referral only a year and a half ago? Wow! I wonder why some people wait 4-5 years and others get in quicker? Underlying medical conditions making someone a priority? Luck of the draw? Luck doesn't seem right though. I would think once you are on a waiting list that the wait time would be similar for everyone.
Hi JD....I have documented every step of my journey with Dr Beausoleil from the Moncton clinic on my page. I know it helps me when I read others logs describing the whole thing. I have had my consults with the dr, gone to the psychologist, gone to the education day, scopes and tests and finally signed off on the surgery papers in Sept/14. I started this journey a year and a half ago and am looking at possible surgery in April or May. Feel free to add me as a friend....if your going to the Moncton clinic...it is all about the same process...if it is any other they are different than Moncton. Either way, you will get valuable support and info from everyone here. All the very best and one day at a time!
