I was looking at the shelves and shelves of Protien Powders at Wal-Mart today and I am completely befuddled. Can someone PLEASE tell me what it is I should be looking for when buying my post-op protien powders/drinks (ie: how much sugar, carbs, whatever should be in this stuff)?! Thanks! Lisa L.

Sam's had whey protien powder for $25.00 in chocolate and vanilla. This protein is low car and it had 20 grams of protein, plus milk has 1 gram of protien for every ounce. So, if you add these together I would drink 26 grams of protien for my six ounce protien shake. It takes a long time to drink this much. Also, go to GNC they are pretty knowledgeable too. I got unflavored protien from there. I did do atkins drinks when I first got home but they are 19 grams of protien for 11 onuces of the drink, this is too much drinking for me. I drink regular milk now too. I only use the powders when i need a shake.

Hey Lisa! Here are a few sites online you can go to...you can order samples from them and save some money. It is hard to choose when there are so many and you don't want to waste your money on something you do not like.... http://www.unjury.com http://store.bariatriceating.com/index.html http://www.obesityhelp.com/sendover.phtml?From=Top&N=http://www.smarthealthstore.com?d=070505ros http://www.vitalady.com/products-protein.htm I am in no way affliated with any of these sites but wanted to give you a little help. All of these sites offer sample packs at low prices so you can try out a variety to see what you like. I hope this helps you out! Good luck and God Bless! Lisa, My favorite protein powder is Unjury Chocolate. It takes just like chocolate milk and doesn't have any aftertaste. I think Nancy gave you the email address. I have tried lots of protein powders and this is by far the best yet! If you go to Unjury's website you can order samples of the different flavors. It has 20 grams of protein per scoop. Wendy

Thanks for the responses everyone. I am going to get some of these sample packs for after surgery and then I will just order what I like when those run low. Lisa L.
