I have to say that I'm not, have never been and am not likely to be one that likes to exercise. That said, I recognize that it's necessary to support my new life;
- It helps me build muscle so that I'm more toned and my body's metabolism allows me to enjoy more of the foods I'd like to have.
- It helps me build bone density that helps me fight osteoporosis.
- It helps me manage my my emotional eating by providing an effective distraction and elevating my mood.
So while I'll probably never be a 'Gym Rat', I've found ways to incorporate it into my routine. Since, I'm not so good at 'exercise', here are a few things that I do to support my health and well-being:
* Wear a pedometer - it helps me remember to move my tail as I work to make sure that I'm getting in at least 10K steps a day. It prompts me to park farther away from my destination, take the stairs, etc... so that I can rack up those steps.
* Dance - I never really equate dancing with exercise, so even though I'm no Ginger Rodgers, I will crank up the music in the house and dance while I do my household chores, enjoy a Zumba or Jazzercise class or go dancing. It gets my heart rate up and I feel wonderful while doing it.
* Gardening - I have never really liked getting dirty or sweaty, so gardening was something I always hired out or got someone else to do, in part because I didn't like doing it and in part because it was just to hard to do. Now, I still don't 'like' doing it, but I love the result I see in my garden and my body, and absolutely LOVE that I can do it.
* Swimming - Swimming was one of the few exercises I enjoyed even when I was heavy. I used to be somewhat concerned about what I looked like in a suit when I was heavy and I still have concerns now that I'm slender, but it's an activity I enjoy so I do it when I have the opportunity.

hope you have a wonderful weekend. I'm on vacation and will spend it with my cousin and his family. David is a great cook. Can't wait for the baby back ribs and sweet corn. I know it won't be much in volume but oh the taste. The Lord is good. Fell and hurt my knee. Could barely walk for 2 days. Last night it went away in a second. Miracle from the Lord. Mag
I cut 31 inches off my hair too. My hair is shorter than I ever remember having before. I also colored it red and love it. A new me. Mag
TRICARE covers gastric bypass, gastric stapling and gastroplasty to include vertical banded gastroplasty and laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (Lap-Band surgery) is covered only when the beneficiary meets one of the following conditions:
- Is 100 pounds over ideal weight for height and bone structure and has one of these associated conditions: diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cholecystitis, narcolepsy, Pickwickian syndrome, hypothalamic disorders or severe arthritis of the weight-bearing joints
- Is 200 percent or more over ideal weight for height and bone structure
- Has had intestinal bypass or other surgery for obesity and because of complications, requires another surgery (takedown)
So please do not sweat it. I am on Tricare Prime and had NO issues whatsoever.
Today I am cleaning. But going to do my walk this morning. DH goes back to work on Monday and I am also currently working on getting back into college (currently on academic suspension due to health issues.)

Some of you may know from Facebook and/or You Tube that last March, I moved from NC to FL. I was cold (to the bone) and tired of being cold and convinced my husband it was time to move south! I live near the beach and I absolutely love it down here.
But the BEST news that I have is this ... I just got hired as the Bariatric Navigator for Tampa General Hospital! I start in a couple of weeks, but I'm super excited to finally be using my nursing in Bariatrics again. You may recall that I was working on a postop unit in NC taking care of bariatric patients (among others) and also worked in the operating room and got to assist in some bariatric surgeries. Since moving to FL, I haven't had the opportunity to work with bariatric patients. So I'm thrilled to get back to my "calling"!
Dr. Roc Bauman is still "da man" to me! But he has actually recommended Dr. Muur at Tampa General as the surgeon I should follow up with, and that's the surgeon I'll be working with.
Just wanted to check in & share my happy news! I'm still a North Carolinian at heart.

Sorry to hear about the anxiety and nightmare.
Well we went grocery shopping today, that was an adventure LOL. BUT while over at the commissary I decided to walk through the PX and the Post mall and I walked past this beauty salon twice, then I decided- I am getting a hair cut. Yup they took 10 inches. No could not donate it because it was too fried. I like my cut now, I think I will keep it this short for awhile. I can do more with it this way than I could when it was long. Trust me 10 inches is nothing compared to what I have taken off my head back in January (AHEM 21 inches). LOL!!
