This Thursday (Dec 16th) will be my 5 year re-birthday and I am proud to say it has been a wonderful and smooth journey so far. The reason being is that I have followed my program with the food, liquids, vitamins and daily excersises. I feel healthy and just overall great.

For all of you 5 years out please share your success with me I would love to hear about it.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On finding a way to have the WLS... I've had not one seconds regret.... It saved my life... I'm happier and healthier than I've been in all of my adult life. I'm preparing for my 3rd childhood when I attain my goal weight!!!!

It is AMAZING to me that any insurance plan could "exclude" paying for WLS.... How can they be so ignorant??? It would save them 10's of 1000's of $$$$ if the covered individual is morbidly obese!!! Heart problems, hypertension... DIABETES.. Just the savings on diabetes treatment alone would save the insurance companies millions of dollars!

Now that I've vented.... I had United Health Care Insurance when I had my RNY and am still covered by that company... Don't take one person's word.. Check it out like the person suggested. A have also seen people's postings here that spoke of a program at the Cleveland Clinic where WLS surgery was being studied as a cure for type 2 diabetes. Perhaps you could get involved with that. Good Luck... Don't give up.... You will find a way to get it done.

If you are within a 2 hour drive of Cleveland, have Type II Diabetes and are hoping for weight loss surgery, please call the Cleveland Clinic: Bariatric & Metabolic Institute and ask to see if you qualify for their S.T.A.M.P.E.D.E. study! I had my gastric bypass on January 7, 2010 and it was completely covered by the study. They only have 7 more openings before the study is full!!

I have family in the area and will tell them about Cury Consignments... sounds like a great store! We have a store that started as plus size only consignments and she had to expand to all sizes. I thought for sure she would make it plus only! Still a great store!

I would be contacting OSU every day. You have a dedicated person based on your last name -- give them a call and the lady who submits to insurance (Kelly? not sure of the exact name.

I know they have not done many VSGs... I am in the program, too with 2 more months of the 6 month BLAST class to go.

I have not had an issue with them not returning calls, etc.
