REFERRAL WAIT TIME?? SO CONFUSED!!

I have a question.  I am really confused?  I see many on here going to TWH for their pre-op and other appts.  I see their referrals were sent in Jan.. Mine was received at the beginning of December and my orientation isnt until April 18th??  Does anyone know why??

Orientation  dates are not always given out on the basis of when the person is refered as I understand it.

They also look at other medical factors.

There is no real rhyme or reason..  My referral was send in October and my first appt in on March 26th.. Some others have been waiting up to 18 mths for surgery.   Ive noticed the average wait time is about 10-14 mths.  I guess there are many factors that determine our dates.  Im pretty much clueless.

 I think alot of it has to do with how persistant you are. I think if you call and stay on their minds you move quicker.

because, sometimes, things just happen that way. Don't compare yourself to others. You're on your own journey.

Be happy it is so quick. The average wait seems to be about 14 months from referral to surgery. When you go for your orientation they will give you your next appointments which should help with your time line for surgery. Welcome and good luck

 Be happy they didn't lose your file for three months like they did mine :-P.  Seriously, stay on top of them through the whole process.

That said the timeframes are very individual and are not just first come first served.  Patience is the absolute key.  Take every moment you have between now and surgery as a blessing, a space to get ready for this incredible change.  Make every moment count.

 Definitely on my own journey and the question wasn't to compare. But rather understand how their system works!!

Savasana. Wow they lost your file!  Well when I called the bariatric 905 number she told me she sees me registered at two hospitals?  And then when I called HRRH she says oh ok. We have an orientation at 1 today. Come if u like?  I said. I don't have the package. Oh that's ok we can do it later??  Lol. I was so off guard. But I think I prefer TWH.I'm being patient. But anxious to start this journey. With all the success I have been seeing!!  It's hard not to be!!

My referal was sent in december 2009 and I didnt get my letter for orientation till december 2010.. everyone is different

Like everyone else said no real rhyme or reason. I was referred by one of the surgeons in October of 2010 and didn't get my orientation until august 2011. I called all the time after months (6) of waiting and got no real reason why and that I should just wait. So I just waited. I definitely was a squeaky wheel so I am not sure if that held me back even more....
