haven't posted in quite some time...it's been 5 months since my referral and nothing yet...life has been busy enough that I don't think about it too much but still am frustrated with the waiting.  Found out I have high cholesterol and am seeing a specialist, finding it hard to get more veggies in my diet, seem to still fall on old habits of quick lunches.  I haven't eaten out for lunch in a long time, last two weeks, I've had pizza from Pizzaville, a pita from Pita Pit, and....my worst yet - poutine and a ballpark from Dave's hot dog stand.  That one made me feel soooo bad!  Need to think twice before giving in to old cravings.  Kids started soccer this past month, have already gone swimming outside, myself just a quick dip in.  Am still getting everything figured out for support, custody, divorce, etc...never realized how much work is really involved and just when you thought it was all finished, they throw another wrench in...sigh...am happy that I am seeing my therapist again, helping to just talk it out with someone unbiased.  Trying to get the kids' summer planned...guess maybe it's good that I still have to wait since so much on the go right now, but just worried my health is still a big wall on getting things done faster!  Hope everyone elses journeys are going well?

You haven't received anything since the referral? Not even a letter from your centre? If not I'd give a call to the registry. My original "referral" was my doctor faxing a letter to TWH which I'm sure went in the garbage since it wasn't sent properly. Even with walking my doctor through everything, it took months for it to be done correctly.

I have called the bariatric clinic twice now, first I had some hopeful news as they told me that they were starting to transfer 10 files/per week for next three months to Humber, which I thought would mean my journey would move faster, right?  So, decided to give a call a couple of weeks ago to see where it was, of course I left a message, then had a message waiting for me at home stating that I probably wouldn't hear anything for almost a year???  think I may have misunderstood (at least I really hope so...)  I happen to be waiting in Guelph (lucky me...sigh)

sound slike a quick polite call to your doctor or whomever did the referral...at least that way you knwo where you stand.

as far as eating out..it's not about eating out it's about the choices you make..and as long as you are concious of making the wrong food choices (at this point in time)..you have a leg up to knwo to make better choices further down the line...it's ALL about learning and changing!

Sounds like you have a lot on your plate (figuratively speaking)...try to make sure to keep your emotional well being (well) also, because much of our eating habits are attributed to our stress, etc in our lives.   KUDOS to seeing a therapist, hoepfully they provide you with some coping techniques that take you away from food.

HUGS for a great summer

Hiya,

I am still waiting too, although I am now in full ninja mode (as soon as my doctor returns from vacation this IS going to be straightened out).

Now, as for the eating thing. There is a little part of our brain (I call it lazy lori) that says, once we have the referral, we can eat whatever we want until we get to orientation and have to start working at things. Why not? We are going to get "fixed" soon, might as well eat our faces off until we can't anymore.

Lazy lori came to visit about 3 weeks ago, I had been eating consistently healthy food in moderately reasonable portions for months and months (on W**W) getting nowhere really but stayng healthy and focused. THen that lil devil said hey! let's just eat and not worry about it. What's a couple more pounds when I am gonna lose 100?

I would imagine that it is not uncommon for the relief of knowing that the end (hopefully) of this very long and windy road is going to straighten up a bit (given the committment to hard work) makes temptation just a leetle more powerful.

Hang in there. Use your big girl voice and tell that little voice to shup. I am trying. It is mostly working.

Lori

Ooohh..hope everything is okay there for you.   I called the clinic today, and was told, quite nicely I'll add, that I won't be getting anything until probably December, letter or phone call, they're still working on August 2011 right now.  But, they do have me on the list!  Phew...little disappointing but reassuring to know that my name is there.
