How much time off work?

I am just starting the process but curious as to how much time off work I would need.  I have 2 weeks of holidays left that I've booked but haven't used yet and could be rescheduled.  I have a desk job and came back to work 2 weeks after a colon resection and hysterectomy last year. Other than being tired I was ok.

Hi

They recommend 2 weeks off work if you are not lifting anything over 10 pounds, but I personally took

off 6 weeks so that I could get lots of rest and get used to the change in eating, at my job I couldn't

leave my desk unless I was scheduled to leave, so I wanted to make sure that my body was in tune

with everything else, LOL

You should ask your surgeron!!!

Take care and good luck

I am two weeks post op and am returning.  I would not have wanted to do so earlier for many reasons.  I needed a lot of naps and struggled to get all the protein and water in the first week and a half or so.  Its good now though!  But I will not lift anything heavier than a remote for a few more monthes!

I am 4 days post op and I said to my husband that I could go back to work today I feel fine! .. BUT because I work within the schools and with behavior challenged high school children I am taking the rest of the school year off.

I went through Ottawa and because of the nature of my job was off for 4 weeks.

I am taking 6 weeks off.  Well not really, cause I run a home daycare so I hired an assistant.  I'll be half working for 4 weeks, than 2 weeks vacation!

But I work with kids, lots of carrying.  My surgeon said that 2 weeks was fine to get back to work but no lifting!  Try not to lift 2 years old!  lol!!!

I took four weeks less a day because that is what the surgeon gives you.  I'm sure I could have gone back earlier but as others have said it is not actually about how you feel but how much time and effort it takes you to get in all your water, protein, vitamins, etc.

I took 8 weeks off. I am a cleaner in a hospital and wanted to make sure I was good and healed.

It doesn't matter about your holidays, we get EI benefits to cover sick time. Does your job have benefits that cover sick time?
