What kind of cancer are you dealing with. I would suspect that some types would have more of an impact than others would.
I was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer in August and Colon Cancer in November. I found out I have a genetic condition that predisposes me to many cancers - my oncologists are the ones who suggested the surgery as Obesity puts me at an even higher risk of developing these cancers and makes the screening for the various cancers more difficult. I hope I don't have to wait years and years....

I see. Hopefully since this comes as a recommendation from the oncologist, you won't be required to wait. Crossing my fingers for you.
I had thyroid cancer in 2000 and they told me that I had to be cancer free for 5 years before they'd do the surgery. Thankfully I was more than 5 years out so I had no problem. The chances are that recent cancer will push your surgery back. I went through Hamilton, I don't know if the rules are different at the other hospitals.
There was a lady on here who had just had cancer and was given the all clear by her oncologist but the bariatric team wanted more reassurance. Her oncologist ended up providing a letter/phone call to the bariatric surgeon and to my knowledge went through with her surgery. Not sure if this is something that your oncologist would be able to do but it might be worth it to try. Good Luck!!
