I'm just wondering if you were still smoking when you sent your referral in?

I'm down to one a day if that but my dr was worried it may hinder the process.

Have you found that to be the case?

I believe at TWH, when I went to orientation, they told us you have to be "smoke free" for 6 months before they would do the surgery. It has taken me a year to get from Orientation to having my surgery booked for this July 17th, so possibly they would take you if you can quit by your Orientation session. They are very serious about this. Good luck to you. You can do it! I did.

Referral Date: May 29, 2012; TWH Orientation: June 19,2012; Nurse Practitioner Group Session and Social Worker Initial Assessment: September 25, 2012; Nurse Practitioner One-on-One and Psych. Assessment: January 18, 2013; Met with surgeon: March 8, 2013; Pre-Op scheduled: June 20,2013; Surgery scheduled: July 17, 2013! Surgery Completed!

I have a friend who smoked ,and she said she has to be smoke free for 6 months before surgery.. She just had her orientation after 3 months from referral. Good luck Krista..

Refered Jan 15/13..Surgery June 27/13 , Dr Hagan.

yah, you have to be smoke free for 6 months prior to surgery.. and alcohol free 2 months..

Booze free is gonna be way harder than the smoking but it's needed so I'll do it damnit!
