Depression and WLS
I'm just wondering if anyone on here has/had depression and how surgery plays into it afterwards? Also was taking your meds a challenge after surgery?
I have clinical depression(i see a shrink and a therapist so i got it on lock down). But I'm just wondering how you all have gone through it in real time?
Thanks
Kay

I am in the same boat. I take pain killers and mine are long acting and I am afraid I prob cant take after. I have been googleing this for the last week to see what kinds we are allowed ..........ughh not fun
I am the same. I'm on Zoloft, and it took my doctor and I a few tries to find a proper dosage. I know that my anxiety/depression level is in control now, but I also know how freaking easy it is to fall into that void again.
I'm going to be working closely with my family GP after surgery and we will be adjusting doses, and perhaps introducing Ativan. Talk to whoever it is that writes your scrips and stay in close contact with them throughout your journey.
Best of luck!

When i talked with the SW she said that they can't be long acting so I have to change one of mine. She also told me that they are pretty good for letting you take the med's right away after the surgery so the depression/anxiety doesn't have a chance to set in. Keep seeing your therapists and GP and you should be fine. You just may need extra support after surgery. Best of luck with everything
I'm on Effexor and started taking it the night of my surgery. At first I opened up the capsules and mixed the granules with pudding, now I just open up, toss them in the back of my throat and have a drink of water. I haven't had any problems at all since surgery.
Thank you guys!!! I'm on celexa and wellbutrin so I'm sure I'll be able to do it. Just making sure!
Y'all are awesome!
