Steak

Ok...so on Thursday I plan on making steak for dinner.

Generally speaking I marinate my steaks in either something like an Asian inspired flavor (soy, garlic, onion etc) or an italian inspired something (olive oil, vinegar, onion, garlic, basil, oregano)

I'm tired of both of them!!

Keep in mind I eat with a husband who is pickier than most 2 year olds.  Eats no veggies no fruits blah blah blah.  So they either have to be IN the marinade (which I can then remove) or it has to be a dish that I can cook the meat and what not separately or something.

Any ideas?

This isn't exciting or fancy. But it tastes delish. If you are grilling the steaks.......

Put a thin layer of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce on steaks as they cook. I think Johnny puts about 2 layers on as he flips them and that is it. The steak doesn't come off the grill slopping of BBQ sauce but has a wonderful flavor. We eat our steak like this everytime. In fact we will be having some fresh Delmonico's tonight that I picked up from the butcher on saturday.

I sometimes sprinkle a little steak seasoning, or onion powder on the steaks and rub it in, but depends on my mood. Touching raw meat these days makes me sick to my stomach so I have been skipping that step! LOL

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Don't need fancy, just tasty!

Brian would probably love the bar b que sauce one - he loves it.  I do not - however I could just skip it on mine.

Thanks!

I like to marinate in
1) Teriyaki
2) pineapple juice and garlic
3) italian dressing
4) steak sauce with garlic
5) last night I "invented" on vingear, steak seasoning, dry mustard, teriyaki and horseraddish - I know it sounds funky but I marinated a roast beef in it overnight and OMG it was so yummy!

there are alot of marinades out there now too. We got a southwest one, once that the kids loved. It had a little kick to it but just enough. I have used that on pork chops and chicken, but am sure it would be good on steaks too.

Norm's No Fuss, DELISH AS HELL Marinade

Soy suce
Minced garlic
Tobasco or Red Hot (or the hot souce of your choice)

The hot sauce and the soy are a really unique mix. It's a familiar taste, but kicked up several notches on the hear scale

this is what I do...

equal amounts of:
Soy sauce (1 cup)
A1 Steak Sauce (1 cup)

1/4 cup of oil
1/4 cup of apple cider vinger (or red wine vinger)
1/4 cup of apple juice (or red wine)

You can't taste the juice at all in it but it helps to brown nicely when grilled. The vinger helps to break down the meat so it is more tender... when you go to grill/broil- shake off the extra... btw- let soak over night! Awesome stuff- family fave! also works with Turkey london broil as well!

Another fave is this...
3 tbsp Dejon mustard
1/2 cup A1 steak sauce
1/4 cup apple juice
1/4 cup oil
1/8 vinger of choice

sea salt
black pepper

Rub down the steak with salt and pepper... then put into the soak mixture. Let it sit over night. Shake off extra- grill like normal...

Another fave is this look for the grilling rubs in the spice section or where ever they sell grills now... all kinds of awesome stuff there...
