Yummy suggestion
My favorite thing about eating souvlaki and gyros has always been the amazing tzatziki sauce. Keeping in mind that I'm 10 days out and still on full liquids, I "invented" a snack today that is really good and just as amazing... VERY yummy.
It was inspired by my friend's "cucumber water" suggestion, which i love... slice about 1-1/2" of cucumber thinly and put in your water bottle... refrigerate overnight. The water has an incredibly crisp (but subtle) summery and refreshing taste. Once you're on "real" foods, you can drink the water then snack on the cukes!
But here's the "Cucumber Snack - Full Liquid" that I came up with:
3/4 C. Plain fat free Greek Yogurt
2 inches of cucumber (I use the "burpless" ones without seeds), peeled
1/2 tbsp finely minced garlic (if using fresh, use a LOT less) (or to taste)
shake of onion powder (to taste) (or puree a tiny bit of white onion with the cucumber)
pinch of salt (to taste)
Puree the cucumber in the blender (If you're not on full liquids, you could just chop it finely) and mix all the ingredients. Refrigerate for about an hour. if on liquids, strain through mesh just before eating (refrigerate without straining so the tastes develop).
Yield - 1 serving

I hope you like it! The sauce is designed to go over a marinated grilled chicken or a spiced beef/lamb mixture, so it would likely go well with anything you mentioned. And if you're not on liquids DON'T puree the cucumber (just chop it) and it won't have a soupy texture. Should have a texture kinda like sour cream (except for the cucumber and onion chunks).
But as the "soup" snack I made, it's good enough to just eat on its own kinda like a cool gazpacho soup. Yum! Tastes like I'm being really naughty, but I'm not!

if you like that so much you might like what a friend and I just created... she just had teeth work done and is on a liquid diet of sorts... and she came up with this...
5 big strawberries
1 kiwi
1 cup of watermelon- seedless
1 package of vanilla pudding mix
1 box of fat free cream cheese
2.2 cups of milk
toss everything in the blender... well you know take the stems off the berries, the fuzzy stuff off the kiwi... etc... and blend away... if it is too thick add more milk...
She loved it... she calls it her berry soup... she added just a drop of red food coloring to make it a really light pink to look "pretty"...
one tablespoon of cream cheese is 7g... so just imagine how much is in a whole block of cream cheese lol...
