Gallbladder has to go
Hi PA,
I've not seen too many posts about gallbladders. About 3 weeks ago I went to the ER with what they guessed was a gallbladder attack. I had all of the classic symptoms. I had an ultrasound done 3 days later and when the med tech from my doctor office called she said it was negative but I was to keep my appt with the doctor. I saw the doc on Friday and she says that I have gallstones and sludge and it needs to come out. I was stunned and a bit pissed off since I was told it was negative. What the heck.
Anyway, I meet with the surgeon, Dr. Vinca in Phoenixville on June 10th. I'm hoping I can hold off having it done until July.
I'd welcome any info on recuperation time and any info on Dr. Vinca.
Thanks,
Teresa

Liz had her gallbladder out.....she can give you some details on it I'm sure.
As far as the tech goes...she shouldn't have told you anything. By law, they are not certified to read the ultrasounds....so they can't tell if it is positive or negative.
Feel better and good luck!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

Here I am - gall bladder less! I was out of work a week and needed every minute of it. Now I recover pretty quickly but this was a rough surgery for me - I'll be honest (not trying to scare you), initially it was worse then RNY (lap) but the recovery is quicker. Good news is I lost 14 pounds! lol I had mine done at Doylestown hospital and it was outpatient. I had to be there at 10am and was kicked out (literally) at 7pm. I wanted to stay the night. Stick to a bland diet when you get home, not that you will want to eat. I ate a lot of toast, mashed potatoes, pastina in chicken broth, pudding and jello. Mine wasn't gall stones, it was "squeezing" in the wrong direction trying to force bile back into my liver. Quite painful.

I had my gall bladder removed during my WLS (open procedure). I couldn't (and cannot) tell what symptoms I have that are due to that, and which ones are due to the WLS... but over all, I think I'm okay ;o) You should be fine!
