What does everyone do for their job?

I am a seventh grade social studies teacher and a part time therapist in a psychiatric hospital.  My school day looks like a dash out the door in the morning.  I usually make myself oatmeal in my classroom in the morning.  Lunch is made with leftovers in a Ziploc container.  I usually cook normal on the weekends, and then pack all the leftovers in small containers that I freeze for lunches.  I always take a huge water bottle to work to keep in the fridge.  I also usually take nuts and a yogurt for protein snacks.  Supper is normal, whatever that is.  On weekends, my routine is pretty similar at my part time job, just different time frames.

Hope that helps.

Hugs,
Trish

i work in  behavioral health MC Co as well and so i am on the phone all day
i bring things in ahead of time and keep them in the fridge and off my desk because i will graze
at night when i see clients i make sure that i have some kind of high protein snack between jobs. It really is not that hard once you get the hang of it but it does require planning

When I first had the surgery I was out of work, taking care of my Mom.  So meals were at home, I always took with me when I went out on errands an insulated bag with frozen water bottles in it, and little packets I made up of things I could eat.

Now three years later, I am a bookkeeper and my office has a full kitchen, I only use the fridge and freezer to keep my daily packed stuff in it.  I keep a 2 qt. container of crystal light in the fridge, a dozen 3 oz. cans of tuna in my desk, some frigo cheese head light string cheese in the fridge, a few cans of soup in my desk, I usually pack things up in the early morning to take with me.  I also keep some WW Smart Ones in the freezer in case I want something hot.  I never order out for lunch.  I save eating out for very special occasions.  In the beginning, you may be tired after a few hours of work no matter how sedentary your job is.  Be prepared to take a few naps here and there.

Some days your the dog and some days your the hydrant.

I am a 2nd grade teacher.  I share a fridge with the rest of the faculty so I usually bag my lunch and keep snack etc in my classroom to mucnch every two-three hours.  I usually have a small yogurt and cheese stick with a small bit of fruit in the am in classroom before kids get there....lunch is usually small container of tuna or chicken,,,fruit..cheese...maybe a treat that is sugar free....

Dinner is usually made by hubby and is usually chicken or fish, steak or ground beef..with veggies... Protein shakes are part of my routine too...looking for new flavors though..LOL

It takes some time and some planning but then eating like this just becomes second nature!!

I am a stay at home mom to a son that is 4 and 2 year old twins, so my biggest issue is trying to find the time to eat slowly.  I am also going to college to become a teacher, so when I go to class I make sure I have at least 2 things of water and something healthy to snack on.

For the teachers that replied, do you like it?  I am so excited about it, but my mother in law who works at a school thinks I am crazy for wanting to teach.  I am going for grades 1-4.  The only thing I am nervous about is being 40 when I start.

Although I don't teach grade school, I was 40 when I started teaching college. It keeps you young! Bless your heart I could never teach little ones. Maybe high school, but I am not certified so I can only teach at the college level (which I think is ridiculous but that PA for ya!). I've always thought of teaching as a vocation more than a career. You have to be a very special person to teach elementary school. Good for you!

I am an executive and that means I go to lots of meetings (and lots of lunch and dinner meetings).  When I first had my surgery, I took three weeks off (with the internet, you don't really get time off, but you can work from your couch!).  When I returned, I just tried to avoid the lunch and dinner meetings for a while.  The truth is that when I am in my office, I usually eat lunch at my desk, so I just pack my lunch. I keep protein bars and powder in my desk drawer in the event of an emergency.  Planning is so essential once you've had the surgery.
Good luck,
Lou

I'm a University English Professor and I waited until the end of the Spring semester so that I would have all summer to recuperate and ease into my new life. I know it's going to be a challenge when I go back in the fall. I plan on packing my lunch and snack the night before. Maybe a protein shake, egg or chicken salad, protein bars, yogurt and water.
