my wellness screening

So, on Tuesday I had a wellness screening done at work.  I got the results back today and need some help.  The numbers are better than they were, but there is still a slight problem with the cholesterol.  They basically only checked cholesterol and diabetes risk.  Here are my results:

Triglycerides: 70 mg.
   reference range <150=normal 150-199=borderline high, >199=high

Cholesterol: total 204 .
reference range of <200=desirable, 200-239 borderline high, >239=high

HDL cholesterol: 47
  reference range of <50=low,>59=desirable

LDL cholesterol: 143
 reference range <100=optimal, 100-129=near optimal, 130-159=borderline high, >159=high

Chol/HDLC ratio: 4.3
reference range <=5.0=optimal, >=5.0 high

glucose: 87
reference range 65-99=normal fasting, 100-125=risk for pre-diabetes, >125=risk for diabetes

So, it looks like my bad cholesterol is a little high and my good cholesterol is a little low.  Any advice on how to get these numbers better? I go to my PCP in 2 weeks and need to get these same tests done before I go back there.  Last time she had said that she might put me on cholesterol meds depending on the numbers when I come back in.  I think my bad cholesterol was in the 200's last time, so it is definitely better.  Maybe she'll just see that and be ok with the knowledge that it is better?

early out my cholesterol was high and it has steadily come down post op. I think that the last time i had it done it was 165, my bad colesterol was in range and my good cholesterol was high.

hope that it works out without meds

Looks like your bad cholesterol is coming down as your weight does - I know mine did. I was only on meds for it for a short time and once the pounds starting dropping so did that number. Yours doesn't seem overly high and some people have higher numbers not attributable to weight - some people just 'manufacture' it in their system and have to be on meds, but that doesn't seem to be the situation with you. See how it goes at your next appt - even if you have to go on meds it may only be for a short time.

I go the gym at least 4 days a week.. strength training, spin class, treadmill

I guess time will tell if the levels drop over the next few weeks/months.  They probably will.

I would ask the doctor for an extension if she suggests meds.  Seeing as though your numbers are coming down...I would give it more time with your "new" lifestyle and activity level/eating habits.

Good job for bringing them down already!
