Barix Post-Op Meeting 6/17
Well it is the third Wednesday of the month on the 17th so that means it is support group time at Barix in Langhorne starting at 7PM in the lobby.
Dennis is leading the over all group and Robin will be there to lead the Lap Banders.
If you should have any topics you wish discussed please leave a note here or else feel free to send a PM to Dennis or Robin.
If you should bring clothing to pass along as always please take back home with you anything that is left over. Clothng can not remain at Barix so that means your leaders have to take the time to clean it up then take it to be dinated.

Bob,
Based on the meetings I've been to, we post-ops seem QUITE vocal about sharing our journey. That's the most wonderful thing! At the Saturday meetings, there are breakout sessions based on how far post-op you are, so you're in a cohort of folks with similar experience for part of the meeting. That doesn't happen for the Wed night group because it's a shorter session - but there are people there from 1 day post-op to several years post-op... and usually some pre-op folks too.
Hope to see you there!

Hey Bob,
I think the overall answer is... it's very personal. Some will talk about others will not. Whatever you choose to do I believe support of some kind must be part of the program. The more the support, the better. It may even get those who are quite to be more vocal. None of us have anything to be ashamed of but we do carry around many nightmares, bad experiences and the demons. Not everyone wants to be the posterperson for gastric bypass. Not everyone wants to have to justify it to all those who may ask but don't have a true interest. However, we as patients, can talk about it until dark. If someone knows you are also gastric bypass the walls will come down and the bonding begins. That is what happens at the support meetings I go to. It's why I go. Hey Bob I think it's time for you to re-connect. I hope your schedule will allow it.

Dennis, with all do respect.I think meetings are great I would never denied that fact,it is a place where we has post ops and pre ops talk about where we are at in our journey.
This subject that I brought up as puzzle me since I had surgery.
I know it is persol decission if someone tells someone about thetre weight lost.I have found outside of meetings that there is alot of support if people see what you are doing by sometimes just talking.People have come up to me knowing that other people had surgery,I think that they like when people take control back into their lives.
Some of the people that i have meant either through going to the emergency room one night and found out the nurse there had weight surgery.Or at work finding outtwo co worker had it do too,one being more than 5 years out.We as patients are have the same issues.
I am no poster boy for weight,I drive a bus in the city and see people who could improve their lives with some kind of help.
I will make a meeting when I can.I am more connected there are a few of us but as your meetings show we are growing
