Vitamin B1

Hi All -
Dr. Pupkova has instructed me to start B1 - 100mg next week.  Is there such a thing as a chewable B1 vitamin?  I haven't come across one.  I did find something called B-100, whi*****ludes, among other B vitamins, 100 mg of.  From what I can tell, it appears to be a capsule, which could be opened and dumped into a protein shake.

What do you all take??   I'm very fearful of my levels getting out of whack and I have been almost militant about making sure that I get in my two adult multi-vitamins and 1000 mcg B12 sublingual every day.  I have not missed any since surgery.

I know a quick call to Dr. P would get me my answer, but I figured since there were so many Dr. P patients on the board that maybe I could get my answer here.

Thanks in advance !

I have never seen a chewable B1.  But the pills are very small so it's ok to swallow them.  When I started them, I had no trouble.

Good luck!

I take the B-1 100 mg tablets from GNC, np and actually at my yearly visit last year, Dr. P told me to cut mine back to every other day (B1 and B12) as my blood work showed my levels to be high, we shall see what this years levels look like.

Thanks Laureen - I'll keep this in mind.  I'm not sure when my first set of labs will be.  I imagine that Dr. P will give me a script when I go in for my six week appt.

If I remember correctly labs were drawn at 3 mos, 6 mos, 9 mos, and yearly.  Could be mistaken on that, though

well, as almost a 5 year post op, I went thru a period of non-compliance with my vitamins.  I don't know why I did that, knowing what I know about how we mal-absorb, but I guess I went thru a period of "it can't happen to me" silliness.  My calcium, and iron levels were low, as well as my B-12.  My vitamin D level was "dangerously low" (to quote my dr.) So, please, anyone *****ads this, stay on your square when it comes to supplements!

To bring my levels up, currently I'm taking

1 - Centrum Silver daily
2 - Citracal petites ( twice a day)
2 - Vitamin dry Vitamin D (only M-F for 3 mos, then I wont need a vit D anymore)
1 - B-12 sublingual (2500 mcg once a day)
1 - Ferro Sequel (high potency absorbable iron 1daily at bedtime)

Of course when my labs improve, I will probably be able to go down to 1 multi, a B-12, and prob half the dose of the calcium and that will be it, which I will LOVE!  I was fortunate enough that I didn't do any permanent damage to my body, but if I would have stayed negligent, there would have been reprucussions.

Dr P was my surgeon and she didn't have a problem with capsules so I take a B1 capsule with no problems.
