WooHoo! Tomorrow is the big day!
Pat - best of luck! You are going to do great! Heck you already have!!
I brought my own bed pillow to the hospital. And don't forget the chargers for anything you bring (MP3 player, cell phone etc).
I think you'll be fine with loose (elastic waist) shorts and a t-shirt. I wore jogging pants and a t-shirt home, and my coat of course as it was the end of january! Slip on shoes because you won't want to bed and tie - my mom put mine on for me, I felt more "stable" in my sneakers. Having the pillow in the car was essential too because I couldn't have worn the seatbelt without it - I put it in front of me and then fastened my seatbelt then it didn't touch my belly.
Do you have someone that can post/text/call one of us to let us know that you are out of surgery and resting well? Or when you are up for it. My cell is 610-462-1204 call if you need anything! I am on the road by 5:30am so don't hesitate!

Thanks Everyone!
I just can't believe the time has finally come!
Liz, Denise B. from Pittsburgh will let you all know when I'm through with everything. I have her cell and home number. My sister will call her to update her.
Very, very nice of you to offer. I already put the pillow in the car for my return trip home! I'm wearing my crocs (imposters) which I've become very used to slipping right on. I have a very loose pair of shorts and a big tshirt that I'm planning to wear. (When I put the outfit on yesterday for a trip to the store, my daughter said "You're wearing THAT? That's your 'at home' clothes!") I think they're very comfy, so they'll work. No one expects me to be dressed like Miss America :-)
THank you all for including me in your prayers! I know that I've had God by my side throughout all of this and I'm sure more prayers couldn't hurt!
Hugs!
Pat

Hi Pat -
Best wishes to you ! We'll all be making room on the losers bench for you !
The one thing that I took and used during my entire hospital stay was chapstick. When you start to wake up, it may be a while until they let you use the sponge swabs for you mouth and then something to drink. It helps to keep your lips hydrated. I also used my comb quite a bit so I didn't look like a complete mess. And I did need my feminine products. My period started the day after surgery. Wasn't due for another week.
Other than those items, I didn't use much of what I took. I took a robe, didn't use it. Didn't take jammies. The hospital gown was enough for me. Took toothbrush, toothpaste, etc. Did use it - the hospital provided it for me. Didn't read my book or the magazines that I brought. Mindless TV was all I could handle.
See you on the other side !

Pat,
Good luck tomorrow!! You will do great...I brought all that stuff including a puzzle book and ipod and didn't use them at all. The nurses keep you VERY busy and in between you will want to sleep. Great job in losing all that weight before surgery...I was only able to lose about 20.
We will make room for you on the loser's bench.

Pat,
I'd say good luck, but you don't need it! You'll do great!
You'll be getting up in just a few hours! If you have chap stick or mouth wash in the house - I really liked having that w/ me in the hospital.
Sip sip sip walk walk walk! Can't wait to hear your updates!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

Pat,
You should be heading into the OR as I type. So I am instantly sending Good vibes and happy thoughts your way. Can't wait to hear from you. You are going to do great and you will be SOOOO happy you did this!
Welcome to the Losers Bench!
Jo
When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
Hi Pat,
I didn't realize that today was your surgery day! I am assuming that you are already out of surgery and recovery as I am writing this, but I hope you know that I wish you nothing but the best. You are in good hands with Dr. Quinlin (my surgery was on a Monday morning at 7:30am and I was out of the O.R. by 8:15am) and his staff are the best. I am going to send you my phone number via email and if you need anything, please call. I am not too far from St. Margaret.... The best is yet to come!
