Calories while breast feeding and support undies

Ok, no one seems to be able to answer this for me... and I am sooo not going to ask on the preggo board because there is just too many Mamas looking for drama crap... so I am posting here because I know a number of you have had kids after gastric bypass...

I can't seem to find out how many calories I need to be eating right now while breast feeding... yeah Annabelle seems to have gotten it... and I won't even go into the crazy position I have to get her to do this... that and a nipple shield since she is so tiny...

I know BF can burn 500 calories a day... but where should I be calorie wise... carb wise... protein... fluids... etc... the BF lady at the hospital didn't know... barix nuts won't return my phone calls (I have now left 4 messages in the last 2 weeks... and I'm done dealing with them)... and my OB office has no idea what to tell me lol...

Some days I am at 216 (5 pounds from my pre- preggo weight) and then other days I'm at 222... and I bounce between the 2... I know I am still swollen in the middle and such... but I want to make sure I am intaking enough for me and Annabelle so she gains weight and I'm not messing myself up...

So any advice/ideas on this would be great...

OK... Support undies... I finally figured out the reason why I am still in soooo much pain after the c-section and tubal... my fat flap and extra skin are pulling on everything... it only feels better if I hold/pressed up against me... but I don't have any major support pieces to do this... Spanks or whater it is called is going to cut it... I need MAJOR support... the hospital sent me home with 2 support bands but now that I lost 16ish pounds they don't work (needed 2 to get around me- and 1 is just a too small)... the support bands at Motherhood and such are too narrow... I need something wider or full on major support undies lol... I know Kohls has med. support pieces but I need something a bit more hard core lol... and guessing I would be a 2x in them... so any ideas... oh yeah I know Lane Bryant doesn't carry anything hard core...

Thanks guys...

Well, I don't know about the support undies, but maybe I can help with the breastfeeding issue.  After I had my son, I called Barix and they told me to eat 500 calories more than I usually would per day.  Which, really kinda made sense since breastfeeding itself burns 500 cals.  They told me to continue everything else like normal, with my protein goals and the low carbs and all that, so, that's what I did.  Good luck.  Your babies are beauties.

No advice on the BF but undies - Kohl's or Sears sells support undies I've used them before - it takes an acrobatic act to get them on but they are great support!

Since I never breast fed a baby and refuse to contort my body into Spanx I have absolutely no words of wisdom for you - however, I have not had the chance to congratulate you on your beautiful new baby and your lovely family, so I just wanted to do that this morning. Sounds like you're feeling pretty good and the baby is doing well - bet Lore is excited to have a little sister around now! So Congratulations to you, hubby and the family - its a beautiful thing!!

Having done neither.....

I can tell you that online spanx has a specific maternity collection.  Not sure if that would help post pregnancy or not.

Or, find a medical supply store in your area, they should sell abdominal binders in various sizes and shapes.

The advice on eating 500 calories over what you did before pregnancy is the way to go.  IF you cannot get it all in, I would not worry.  The baby will take from you what it needs... you will be the one to suffer... (so I guess worry about yourself) Pregnant and BF mommies are supposed to get 100 grams of protein a day, so I would keep up with that and AT LEAST 60 oz of water a day.
Oh and on the support, I have an exercise band that I wear around my stomach that is adjustable by velcro (sp) I got it at walmart and I can barely bend over when I have it on tight.  It might help!

Hope this helps!
