My First Barix Post-Op Support Meeting...
So Saturday I attened my first Post-Op meeting @ Barix. I tried to match up faces and name I've meet on here with people I saw at the meeting but was failing miserably. I guess I suck with names and faces. Slightly better with faces than names but profile pics were not all that useful.
Basically I just wanted to know who all else was there, if anybody recognized me, etc. I just hate that stranger in a crowd feeling. I was wearing a dark navy fleece top and green cords, blonde hair that I wore down half the time and up the other half. Mainly I just hid in the corners, wandered around aimlessly and kept quiet.
I knew a few people but only really from the post-op meetings I had attended in the past.
I intend on going again but I'm hoping it will be less uncomfortable in the future. Really hate social anxiety!
Fess up..maybe I can put a username with a face I recall.

Well I was there the whole time and I am a leader. I was the one that did all the intros of the leaders for the 2009-2010 support team.
I can not say that I can put your name to the face but please just walk up start talking to someone we are a very open group and outgoing. Hope you make it to the Post Op meeting on the 18 of this month!

I wasn't there.
But wanted to let you know matching up people from their avatars can be extremely challenging - not that you suck at it. I had a hard time doing it at first too. And the Saturday support group meetings are long and tend to be pretty big (don't know how big this one was).
Hang in there - it gets easier!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

yes, I was there. I'm considering trying to find Barix on my own for the Wed night meeting. Being from NJ I'm still a bit intimidated by the Blvd which is the way to Barix. I don't like the traffic on there in daylight but in the dark I'm still scared of that road. Gene sees clients on Wed night so my chauffer is not available to drive me LOL
On a more serious note, I almost came to the Wed meeting last month but chickened out because of the thought of driving on the Blvd in the dark, but I am going to try this month I think. I have to get over this fear of that road I've been living here for 6 yrs now....

Beth thank you. I don't think I'm up to going out to resturants yet. But I do think I am going to come out for the meeting. Gene is seeing clients I don't have any classes that week, so maybe it's time to tackle the Blvd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I live within walking distance of the Krewstown shopping center if you know where that is. And I do mean like a 2 min. if that, walk
