Lisa I am also learning about EFT and think it will be a great tool for us post ops. I will tell you more about it as I learn but for now, I think some counseling may help, and stopping the carbs

Every single one of us get to point and then this is what life is like for us.  My only saving grace is to keep everything as low as possible so that when I do cave in, it won't hurt me so much.  And that is why you hear me say, what's in it.  I need to know every thing I put in my mouth so that when that trigger gets started I won't have a mental breakdown over the stuff I'm drooling for.  You are not alone, we are a network of food addicts trying to cope with life on a daily basis.  Fight the fight Lisa, its worth it.

Some days your the dog and some days your the hydrant.

Lisa,

Being only four months out now, I'm still honeymooning, I suppose, but your post is very helpful for me.  I'm so AFRAID to put a sugar free cookie or dessert in my mouth, so I have avoided them completely.  The protein bars aren't a problem for me because I just don't seem to over enjoy them.  I'll use them for a pinch if I need the protein.

Is there anyway you can detox yourself from the carbs to help you get back on track?  Can you try drinking protein shakes for a few days and see if that helps?

I hope and pray that your surgeon has some answers for you.  Being a food addict myself, I can certainly sympathize....my biggest fear is to have that food craving come back.  I'm trying to do whatever I can to avoid that by avoiding bad carbs.

Good luck!

Debbie

I have been doing all liquids today and so far so good.  I had nothing solid, but a little bit of chicken that slipped in with my broth that I am finishing up now.  2 protein shakes today, coffee, decaf coffee, decaf tea, crystal light..

it wasn't too hard.. the hard part is going to be tonight.. that's when I tend to grab everything in sight.  I will do this!

Okay I made an appointment with Dr. Dorfman for next Wednesday.  Now, I need help with what to ask her so I know if she will be a good fit.  She was recommended to me via PM.  So, I thought I'd give her a try.

Please help me with what to ask at my first appointment.

Thanks!

i'm with you on this. I wished you lived closer so we can drag each other to the gym. I just started to go back this week after not going for an entire month.

I have to say that sugar free stuff makes me sick. Someone made a sf choc chip cookie and I had one...about 20 mins later I was sick to my stomach. I made cookies over the weekend...full sugar...I can eat one and feel perfectly fine. I only have one a day but it's weird that it doesn't make me sick. I don't pu**** but I do treat myself to one a day...usually after the kids are in bed. I tend to eat more when they are around...they stress me out.  Good luck, it's really hard this time of year.

unfortunately, I did not get sick eating SF cookie after SF cookie, maybe a bit gassy but I didn't seem to care.  I won't try sugar, rice, pasta or bread, so why am I okay eating SF goodies and tortilla chips.. OY

I am going to do it.. I will hold back

Yes, it would be awesome if we lived closer for gym buddy time.  I'm going, but I am definitely not putting forth the effort that I was even 2 weeks ago.  My legs are still sore from the workout Rocco gave me on Monday.  I think he was trying to prove a point about me not working out hard enough. LOL

I WISH I got sick off some foods that I have eaten.  That might stop me.

Lisa,
I agree with Debbie, you look fantastic.  Look how far you have come.  You will overcome this too.  Like Brenda in our group says "write it before you bite it", my nutritionist says that will help hold you accountable.  You are an inspiration to me...I know you will get through this!
Sara :)

Thanks Sara.. I feel great too, usually.  Except when I am getting down on myself for eating crap and not sticking with the program.. LOL

I am determined to break through this.  I had a rough few months with crap going on in my life, but it's time to refocus on ME!

I know I can do it!
