Breast Cancer Walk Info Meeting

I got my packet - it's very neat.  Comes with a DVD which I will watch today when I get home.

For whatever reason, I'm pretty psyched about most likely doing this.

I'm going to try to get to an information meeting in Fort Washington Pa on MARCH 17 @ 1830  There are ones earlier in the month but I am working, and this one I am not.

After the meeting if I'm still committed I will put in a vacation request NOW for work so I know I have off.

Is anyone ready to committ?  If so, I (or any of us) can form our own "team".  If not, I will join an outside team.

The brochure I got says that "camp" serves hot dinners and breakfasts, has boutiques for shopping even!  There is a stop each day for lunch, and there are food tents along the way as well so it sounds like nutritionally we'll be well taken care of.  Not a hundred percent sure about sleeping in the "brightly colored tents" but really - it's only 2 nights.

And they have shuttles that can take you to camp early if you get to tired or worn out during any part of the walk.

If anyone is interested in coming to the meeting with me, let me know.  And where the hell is Fort Washington anyway?  Apparantly it's about 1 1/2 hours from my house...but that's all I know....lol

Pam I am registered!

I have considered joining a team - which is one way to tackle the fundraising piece. I'd be open to joining a team with Barix friends but probably couldn't make the trip for training walks together very often. Or I could join a team more local to where I am.

There is a woman on another OH board who works with the 3 day in Dallas as medical crew. She is eager to pass along information too. This has been a big part of her life for several  years.

She says food is not all bariatric friendly and to plan to bring some food along - again, I am going to pursue details on this.

Oh - and when you watch that DVD? Have some tissues nearby.

Let me know your thougths after you go to the meeting!

Pam,
Fort Washington is not far from the Willow Grove area if that helps you and there is a turnpike exit at Fort Washington. You would come down the Northeast Extension take the turnpike to Fort Washington...Sorta in between Willow Grove and Plymouth Meeting maybe 20 minutes from Shauna's...

Good Luck!

Ahhhh, that explains it pretty well!  Thanks!  Brian and I have wanted to check Willow Grove Mall, so maybe we'll make a day out of it!
