Home from Surgery....
Hey all,..!
I had surg. Mon. 8th.
All went well until tues night and wed. I had a lot of pain in tummy after I would drink,..Then I would dry heave violently, (like I had to throw up a watermelon.) lol ...ya, I can laugh now.
.....but I was scared because they were talking leakage etc...
I had a CT scan on Wed. and it showed swelling at anastomosis.
So Dr. just had me npo for the day and half of the next day, to rest it and let it calm down. It worked..! Yay! They had me scared to death..
But of course today I feel a little better than yesterday...
I'm trying hard,..but I am not even coming close to getting in all of my water or protein...

Welcome home!
Sipping and walking breathing and resting will be your new routine! Sooooo glad to hear that the dic knew how to treat the swelling and help you out!
The protein takes awhile to get in. The protein shakes/drinks are hard to get down but try to think of it as "medicine" that you HAVE to take.
Remember that your protein drinks count as fluid as well.
If you'd like, a medicine cup that comes with things like liquid cold medicines, one marked with 30ml can help if looking at a big glass of water seems overwhelming. One of them every 15 mins (or four an hour) will lead to 64 ounces over the course of 16 hours (assuming you sleep for 8 lol but you will probably be napping in that time too)
set a goal to get in a little more each day

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
