OT - anniversary gift advice.... Ladies??
Ok, so Erin and I celebrate our 5th anniversary this Friday. Since we are going to Aruba, she talked about holding off on getting her something until we are down there, which is fine with me. Well now that our anniversary is a few days away, I'm thinking I should get her something or I'll be in trouble. Apparently the 5th anniversary gift is wood or silverware (which we don't need).
Thoughts? Realistically, I expect to buy her something now and then. This first gift I'm thinking something sweet and thoughtful. I'm certain the Aruba one will be of the sparkly variety. Any ideas? I appreciate the advice and help.

go to www.etsy.com and do a search for wood earrings or something like that... they won't be there by friday but when you get back... it would be different and you would be supporting an artist...
or... get her a gift card to a nursery and let her get some plants or something like that...
my hubby and i don't do annv gifts... so i'm not much help lol...
Jewelry is usually a good option as a gift for women. Maybe a pendant/necklace or some gold/silver earrings (depending upon her taste). Maybe since you are going on a trip to Aruba you could get her a necklace or bracelet with a pendant of a dolphin, starfish, or something else that is related to your trip? Another romantic-type thing you could do is to contact the place where you will be staying in Aruba, and ask if you can pay to have someone place some flowers and champage (or something similar) in the room to surprise her when you arrive.
I think that she'd like a baby for her anniversary! lol
Flowers are always a great idea, especially if you don't normally send them - send them to work and let the girls get jealous with envy! Always makes a lady happy to get flowers at work.
I Love the idea of a photo album for your trip and maybe a gift card so she can get her manicure and pedicure or some new clothes before you go.
I have a co-worker who just got back from Aruba and said it was gorgeous - you'll be able to get her something wonderful and sparkly down there for a fraction of the price you'd pay here (and usually better quality!). Just tell her to wear it home and you don't have to claim it for customs, shhh don't tell! lol
Good luck and happy anniversary! Ours is April 16th and since it is wood or silverware I think I'll get Chris the pine tree for the back yard he's been wanting.

You need to keep your ideas to yourself!
Flowers have been considered. She doesn't work, so I can't make the other gals jealous, but I can still send them.
The clothing, well let's just say she has already been doing that since she drowns in anything from last year.
As far as the fraction of the price, now you know why I am buying something sparkly down there.
Hmmm, maybe Erin would like a pine tree. :)

I suggest a necklace with a charm that has some sort of dolphin or star fish, as has been suggested, AND, a nice photo album for the pics you will be taking in Aruba, or a gift certificate to an online photo place like Shutterfly, where she can make a memory book of your trip.

Ok...well...considering you are probably getting her a "sparkly" kind of gift on the trip...I would say probably stay AWAY from the necklace/pendant thing.
I really like the idea of the photo album thing.....
And especially LOVE the idea of getting flowers and what not put in the room. Most places have this.
Of course....a cute little coach sachel would always be my favorite choice....something like a wristlet to just put some things like the room key etc in while walking on the beach. But then agian...I'm a sucker for coach...

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
