Hey just taking a lil informal poll here....

How many of you decided to get a tattoo as a way to celebrate reaching your goal weight??

what did you get-image wise?

Where did you get it on your body?

What tattoo shop did you go to?

What are your thoughts on the experience??

Are you planning on getting another one??

**I am def saving to get my tattoo--I want to get it on my lower back(TRAMP STAMP!!!! LOL) and i am deciding between a Cross with flowers intertwined around it or a very girly fairy...what do you all think??

Thanks! Much luv!!

I didn't get a tattoo, but I did get my nose pierced. I always thought that was beautiful but I never had the guts to do it. Well I have come out of my shell alot in the past year. Now I am rockin' a little sparkle on the side of my nose. That is how I celebrated my 100 lb. weight loss. I think if it is something that you love you should go for it. Celebrate the hard work and the changes that work has brought to your life.

I already had tattoos on my right ankle and foot I have the Rosary and Angel, hearts and bow plus my left ankle has moon and flower prior to surgery but I do what to get another one for the success of the weight loss

I am getting my left ankle done with the words Dream, Believe and Hope in script lettering and on teh end of the M I want a cowgirl hat with bright flowers.

I just won a silent auction at a charity event for Bird Tattoos so I will be going there to get it done in Bensalem

I don't mind when I get one and after that one I will be done.

They both sound nice but go with your heart on what  you want....I feel they are a personal thing and expression.

Yup...even I have a tattoo!!!!  I LOVE it!!!!!!  And...needless to say - I have a story behind it as well...I know...you are sooo surprised!!!!!  About 5.5 years ago - Larry and I were walking on the beach of Margate City, NJ, celebrating our 12th wedding addiversary when I turned to him and said - I want a tattoo - he said, he did too - I was afraid of that - however, we both deicided at that moment that that was what we were going to do for our anniversary.  We literally left the kids on the beach with his parents and said we were going out for our anniversary.  We went back to his parents house and pulled out the phone book, looked in Atlantic City, called a place and went there 1.5 hours later.  I looked through each book and on the wall and said that I was a teacher and wanted an apple, however, the only apple they had had a worm in it....eeeewwww....The woman - who was soooo sweet, said, no problem and proceeded to draw the apple without the worm  --  it was sooooo cute....so Larry made me go first,...chicken - and was told that it would hurt like a sunburn - she was right - it was NOT excruciating.  I have an apple on the back of my left shoulder.

I want two more things - one - another tattoo - also thinking of a tramp stamp - still not sure - of the Pi symbol.  Afterall - I AM a math teacher.  And after I get the tummy tuck - I soooo want a belly button ring.....I think it is doing whatever it is that makes you feel good about your body - we have had so many body image issues in our lives that doing one little thing for ourselves that make us feel good is sooo worth it!!!!

Keep us posted on what and where you get it! :)

Nope - You may ABSOLUTELY know about my tat - My mom knew - and LOVED it - and was actually a bit jealous about it - and my rabbi's know about it because I called them that day asking what the law actually was and their response was, "you already got one didn't you?"  (At that point I had just gotten it.)  And there is no law prohibiting it.  AND....I am paying for my lot at the cemetary - and so long as I pay for it - they will NOT keep me out! LOL!!!!!  AND....I AM getting another one soon!!!!! :)

I also have a tattoo, altho some smart-alecks have referred to it as a 'birthmark' because it's not very big, but of course mine has a story, like so many others.

Most of you know that I gave my daughter up for adoption when she was born in 1977 (too young, no money, no man, no way to raise a child) - anyway, when she turned 21 I started posting on internet adoption websites with my info and lo and behold on September 19, 1998 I got THE BEST phone call of my life - it was this beautiful voice asking me if I was Kathy Hynson (my maiden name) and I said yes, and she said 'I think I'm your daughter' - talk about a moment that literally takes your breath away!!

Anyway, 1 year later on our first reunion anniversary we decided to get matching tattoos - she was no stranger to tats as she already had a couple, but I had never gone that route. We spent the day in New Hope wandering around - wandered into a piercing shop that did other things and quickly ran from there, then found a nice little tat shop on a side street.

At first we didn't know what to get but she was wearing a mother and child pendant that I had given her so the tattoo artist took it and drew it up for us, and we both got it on the outside of our left ankles.

I love my little tat - it means the world to me. I'm trying to save money for plastic surgery someday - I need that more than another tat - but hey, never say never, right!!

I have one old motorcycle tat from many decades ago. I don`t have any desire to get one over my WLS but would like one for my 4 grandchildren but can`t think of one to do. Sad part is my son would do it for me free but I have no ideas.
He used to work P/T at Jimmy James tats in Bethlehem.
