Hello everyone,

My name is Debbie, I guess I'm the old lady of the bunch - lol - I'll be 58 on May 26th (but I don't think Liz's baby is going to wait that long to share my B-day).  I'm a self-employed medical transcriptionist, married, mother of two and grandmother of two.  We started a taxi company here in Red Lion/York PA, going into its 5th year now.  I enjoy gardening, playing the piano, walking on the treadmill (yes, I said that - lol) and love meeting new people.

I had my surgery on August 19th, and it was the best decision I could have made -- I haven't felt this good in 24 years!  No meds, no diabetes, no hypertension, etc.  It's a miracle!  I'm enjoying life and cherishing every single moment.

I've met so many fantastic people and new friends from OH.  The support here is tremendous!  Thanks to each of you for the support and friendship.  You guys are AWESOME!

Debbie

Well Hello All~

I am Beth  just turned 42 this April and had Lap RNY at Barix on April 18, 2008 after researching WLS for close to 5 years and reading so many different website I had run into a friend who had surgery at Barix. My original surgery date was for the 17th but it ended up being postponed to the 18th after my tears. Which in the long run seemed to be the right day for surgery since the love of my life Dennis also has surgery on the 18th of April just 3 years earlier. My highest weight on record was 340 pounds and I am down about 140 pounds at the moment give or take a few pounds on the day yet I am not or will let myself be scale obsessed.

I have met some of the greatest friends by having this surgery there is such a vast amount of love and support. The diversity and common threads are beyond amazing. That has been the major gain to all the weight loss.

I currently live in Northeast Philly in the home I grew up in yet my parents have both passed away so now I  live with my partner Dennis we had met at Barix and December of 2008 we thought lets try this as a couple and the rest is history. We are both support group leaders at Barix we each have our own way to support others and we even mesh together pretty well when we get our support groove on.

I am still trying to figure out what I want to do be when I grow up so for now I do customer service and inside sales for a small sign company in NE Philly ( I hate it) and on weekends I DJ for a local catering hall. I love djing and meeting so many interesting families they make my own seem sane.

I love to shop, read and see live concerts. Together with Dennis we are starting to travel and have a few vacations in the works the next few months.

Love reading all about everyone!

Nice to meet all of you - again!!

I'm Kathy - 52 years old (53 in June) - one of the 'oldsters' on this Board - LOL!!

My big eye-opener was a photo that was taken of me on my 50th birthday - OMG I knew I was fat but didn't realize how FAT I had become. Amazing what denial can do for you. I started researching RNY and lapband because I knew the time had come for me to get my life back - I never thought I would have surgery up to that point but finally that lightbulb went off in my thick skull telling me if I didn't do something, and soon, I'd probably never live to see my 60th birthday. I had lap RNY on 2/18/2008 with Dr Boe at Barix - am a total believer in Barix, Boe and this Board. Thankfully I had the total support of my wonderful husband, Len, who I have been married to for 20 years.

I am down 170-175 lbs, depending on the day - my eating habits are pretty boring and if I shook it up a little I'd probably start losing again - same for exercise. But sadly as most out here already know I had a rough year or so of it with my mom, and then lost her in February, so I'm now just getting my life back together and thinking about me again.

I wish I had more human contact with the wonderful people on these boards, and now that my life is my own again maybe I will - but just knowing you all are out here every day - no matter what - is a huge comfort to me and a place I know I can always go for support, understanding, and good butt-kicking when needed!!
