REINTRODUCTION
Great thread, Pam!!! Thanks for starting it!
I'm Julia, 45 years old. Was overweight for most of my life but became morbidly obese about 12 years ago. I swore for years that I would never have wls, but something changed in my thinking about 3 years ago. I'm yet another Barix Baby, having had lap RNY with Dr. Pupkove on 6/18/09. I'm down about 105 lbs and feel like a new person.
Paul and I have been together for 6.5 years. He has a 16 year old son who's a really great kid; we get along very well. We also have 2 awesome cats that keep us laughing.
I'm currently unemployed. I was working in records in pharmaceuticals for 9 years and have been laid off 4 times. Time to head off in a new direction, so I've signed up to start a certification program in medical coding. (I'm taking anatomy and physiology first but haven't started the course yet. It's online and self-paced.) I'm also an ebayer and have recently started selling stuff.
I try to exercise almost every day, usually walking on the treadmill or the beach. We've recently gotten into metal detecting (have yet to find our fortune) and will walk for a couple of hours without realizing how much time has gone by. We spend a lot of time in Ocean City, MD, so if anyone is around there and wants to get together, give me a holler.

Great post.
I am Dawn. I am heading toward 35 this year. I grew up in MD until after freshman year in highschool, then moved to Florida until after college then moved back to MD. I now live in Spring Grove, PA (halfway between York and Hanover) with my husband and our two shelties. I used to be an attorney, though after 5 years decided I didn't like the actual practice of law, so now I work for an insurance company managing complex claims and litigation. I enjoy that a lot more most days, though I admit I have maintained my bar memberships (MD and DC) as I consider going back every now and then. My husband, Kevin, is in IT, so I have my own built in tech support! We have been together for 13 years now and married for 2.
I, too, have been overweight my entire life, though I was active when younger and it really got out of control in college and grad school. I would lose weight and then gain more back. My husband and I were experiencing infertility when I was finally diagnosed with PCOS. I did the Metformin bit for a while and we were working with a fertility specialist who flat out told us he gave us less than a 20% chance of success and recommended I consider surgery. So after many discussions, a long investigation, etc. I ended up at Dr. Brader's seminar in February 2009 and began the process. I had surgery November 24th and was released on Thanksgiving Day and have given thanks ever since that we decided to take this step.
I am 5 months out, down about 70 pounds since surgery and 100 from my highest pre-surgery weight. Still have quite a ways to go. I am taking it a day at a time. I have become something of a gym rat and I am working with a trainer once a week. I have started learning to run and signed up for a 5k in October. I never completed the 1 mile in 15 minutes requirement when I was in school and I can do that now. :-)
That is about it for me. Any questions, feel free to ask.

EDITED: Oh, I am also on facebook. Feel free to add me, though I have to admit some of my friends and family who are on facebook do not know I had surgery.

Hi, I'm Victoria (aka Vicki or even sometimes just Vic), 38, single (and don't want to be!!! any help would be appreciated!) and I seem to be one of the few VSG'rs on the PA Board.
I will celebrate my 2 year surgiversary on May 19th. I started out at 321 and hover around 175 now. I would like to get another 10 or so off to have an BMI in the "normal" range. I did have my insurance approve my surgery (which is a great thing b/c most insurances don't cover VSG's b/c they are considered experimental or investigational). I am work at Abington Memorial Hospital as a Health Data Analyst--ie Medical Records Coder.
