Hi Elena,

Congratulations....this is a great decision you have made for yourself. My advice is to read. There are lots of books about the different types of surgery and sife effects etc..

I am not sure where you are having the surgery, it might be different. The Optifast was for 2 weeks before surgery. It was fine for me, I had made my decision for m surgery and in my head, the Optifast was medicine for me.

When you meet your surgeon, bring all these questions you have. I wrote down all my concerns and was prepared when I met with my doctor.

Best of luck.

Keep me posted :)

Hi,

I went to the Royal Vic, I guess you are going private? I don't have a book like you do. I was given the food plan at the hosiptal when I was ready to go home. I am sure they are the same. Really you should follow what they gave you .... depending on what surgery you are getting. THere is a web site for Dr. Christou's practice http://www.weightlosssurgery.ca/downloads/ and you can find the diet there .... it is very similar to what I followed.

Best of luck!

Stephanie

ps. sorry i didn't answer you sooner..... here is my email [email protected] ... i check it often

As of yesterday morning, my BMI puts me in the "overweight"category. I know it's silly and that those distinctions don't really matter in "real" life (unless you're hoping to buy life insurance), but it's still a nice feeling - especially that the last time I was "merely" overweight, I was barely out of my teens!

Have a great week, OH friends!

That's why I never visit the local forum and only stick around the main forum. I find there are too many forums to check out....

 Hi Stephanie

It was a great meeting indeed, I love getting back into it! This place is also a great resource for support.

Thanks so much for the offer but I managed to get into the Civic clinic and now have a proper prescription so I am covered.
Congratulations on your recent RNY!  I loved my first year post surgery; seeing the weight drop off so quickly and being in control of eating.  A good friend of mine had her RNY with Dr. Yelle in December and has lost 140 lb so far!!!  I never lost like that - only lost 130 lb in total and that took me over a year to lose.  Wishing you a quick recovery from your surgery and a wonderful result!
If you go to the support group at the Bronson Centre, perhaps we will meet.  My name is Cindy and my friend's name is April.
Once again, thanks and CONGRATULATIONS!
