Getting VGB surgery????? The topic has come up a couple of times on other boards and I am curious as to your thoughts about it. Melissa

vertical banded gastroplasty. it was the precursor to the lapband, and it seems like many doctors are opting for the lapband, as it doesn't require cutting into the stomach like the VGB does. this surgery combines both the stomach stapling of the RNY surgery, and the "banding" of the stomach liket he lapband does. I'm not entirely sure of the advantages of this surgery.. i'm hearing a lot of good talk about DS. Duodenal Switch and if there were any doctors int he area that did this surgery when i was looking - this would have been the route for me! good luck! kristen*
