About Read-Dennis Belk
Hi Everyone,
Dennis started having some problems in his tummy late at work Thursday evening. He called a cab instead of walking to the bus station in NY due to the pain. After making it home he could no longer tolerate the pain and he hit the local ER. They gave him an Xray and pain meds and sent him home. Then the foamies, dry heaves and pain picked up and he knew he needed additional assistance. He went back to the hospital, had a CT scan and found a small bowel obstruction, which is simply a blockage in his intestinal system. He is now in the hospital and is awaiting a decision on whether or not he will require surgery. Small bowel obstructions are one of the more common after-affects of gastric bypass surgery and typically happen a few years out. I am thrilled that he is reeiving the treatment he needs to restore his health, but at this point he is uncomfortable, in pain and unable to take in fluids/foods.
Dennis has requested that I let you all know what is going and I will continue to update you frequently over the coming days. He has also asked that he not receive phone calls and visits at this point. He will certainly want to hear from all of you, just not yet. If you want to send something to the room he is in Palmerton Hospital in Palmerton, PA.
I will continue to update you every few hours until he begins to improve and he can speak to you all directly.
Thanks everyone for loving Dennis and keep hin in your thoughts and prayers!
