Wow! 8 miles is a pretty good walk. Do you think that perhaps you are building up your muscles with the great strides you are making in your exercise routine? Muscle weighs more than fat. I know, I know, everybody says it, but it really is true. chrissy

if your really doing everything right..dotn stress.   It could be hormones..could be sodium.. could be your body fighting weight loss.  Keep doing what your doing.  It'll pop off in a few days.

I know it can feel discouraging but hang in there! There is a tremendous amount of fluids, stools, blood volume etc. that fluctuates constantly. I remember a few months after I had RNY surgery, I weighed 258 at night, and was down to 249 the next morning.! There is no way that I "lost" 9 lbs. during the 7 hours that I slept. I did use the bathroom in the morning, etc, but I still can't explain a 9 lb. flucuation overnight. So it works both ways. At long as you are following your program, it will come off. I promise. Just be patient. Hang in there my dear. Teresa

thank you so much for responding, everyone. come to think of it, it can be either or all of the things you guys mentioned,--i ate a whole jar of pickles last night (minimal calories, LOTS of sodium, which i've been craving b/c of all the sweating working out), stress (i'm under a LOT of it right now), my legs finally building muscle due to a dramatic exercise increase or god know what else (insomnia, medication changes, water retention or all of it at once).  i guess i just need to get over it or stop weighing myself for a week or two and continue what i'm doing. since there's no physically possible way i'm gaining "real" weight (as in actual fat), it's got to come off eventually (hopefully, i'll see a 9 lbs. weight loss, like Teresa mentioned:) i'll take 5lbs., actually, i've been dying to get into 130s

I would just stick to weighing yourself once a week, if possible.  And always first thing in the morning. Your weight has always been known to fluctuate throughout the day.

I am sorry, I don't know you, are you at goal? If you are hun, give yourself a bit of breathing room, like a nice 5ish pound window.  Us girls, we flexuate all around during our cycles & also all the other great points the other posters said. I know it is hard not to stress about it when you have come SO far, but it is just a fact of post op life.  Best wishes, Isha

thanks, Isha. i'm 5'4 at upper normal BMI range (24.4-24.8) and am slightly below dr.Goal (145lbs or less) but am still way above my personal goal (115lbs). i was about 127 when i started gaining weight 4 years ago and more or less comfortable at that. i'd like to get to 115 to allow my body a little room for re-gain (i can live with stabilizing at 120-125.

hi: i'm late but replying anyway! I bike for exercise and everytime I bike a LOT in one day, my weight goes up! I was really getting discouraged till my hubby read in his biking newsletter (yes, we are geeks), this same question. The reply by the doc in the newsletter said something to the effect of: if you dramatically increase your ride, your muscles store calories and water, etc. because they are worried you are going to do it to them again! So, if you have been walking more (and eating sodium filled pickles! lol), you freaked your muscles out and they are holding onto the calories in your body! who knew?   i felt so much better after he read this. I rode over 18 miles one day this weekend and the scale went up 1.2! good luck, judi

when you exercise, your muscles hold water.  tomorrow you will weigh less in the morning...after you pee it all out.  hang in there. hugs, jen
