Peanut Butter

How soon could you guys eat peanut butter? I am on the purée stage right now, and having trouble getting protein in. I love a tablespoon of peanut butter mixed into a sugar free chocolate pudding cup. Just wondering if that would be ok?

I was eating soft foods the first week after surgery, so my sirgeon's plan isn't going to help answer your first question, but I can tell you that the fat content in PB might bother you (and reduced fat PB has extra sugar to make up for the missing fat).  I wouldn't use a whole tablespoon.  Maybe start with a teaspoon of it first...

I second the PB2 suggestion.Great in protein shakes.I also add a little water to reconstitute it and dip my apple slices in it.

I just got sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Peanut Butter goes down thick and slow.  Just Saying...cause you might not be ready for a lot of it.

I've been eating natural peanut butter since I came home from the hospital.  Not a lot mind you, but a teaspoon here and there at first now up to a tablespoon mixed into other food/shakes or just sticking a spoon in the jar.  I don't do it every day, maybe 2-3 times a week I'll have pb.  I also found MyoFusion Peanut Butter Cookie Dough protein powder and it's pretty fantastic!

I'm also a fan of PB2.  I haven't tried the chocolate peanut butter one, just the regular.  Its awesome in protein shakes.  I tried reconstituting it for a PB&J sandwich before surgery and didn't like it.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Doesn't sound like I can count on PB yet to help me out on the protein issue

I used PB2 for the first 3 months.  After that I was allowed to add 1 tablespoon per day of regular PB.    Its not a huge source of protein, but I do have it 2-3 days a week.
