Suitable Pain Meds
The pillows I recently purchased are from the Serta gel memory foam line. The ones I purchased are a bit costly, but I was so very fortunate to find a great deal at a local warehouse, and they are definitely worth the price! There were a few different things going on with me that may have contributed to my headaches, such as my thyroid and hormone issues. However, I IMMEDIATELY experienced relief after changing out my pillows. One doc suggested the change in pillow and pillow positioning. Another doc suggested eating every 2-3 hours, as my blood sugar level was quite low. And of course, they each suggested trying to lower my stress at work. Work is still stressful, and as of a week ago, I am currently not taking my thyroid meds (hoping my thyroid remains stable on its own now!!!). The only things I have changed are my eating habits (I now eat every 2-3 hours) and my pillow situation. I still get headaches, but so far, they have not been as intense/severe or as frequent. I'm hoping they figure out what may be triggering your headaches so they can treat them. Those things are no fun!!!
I had developed headaches a couple years ago and nothing helped. It hurt worse to sleep lying down. Turned out to ******ve at the base of my skull. Had nerve blocks done and topamax
They put me on Elavil in the evening. It's an anti-psychotic but at lower dosage is a pain reliever. It helped a bit but the best side effect was fantastic night's sleep.
The neurologist diagnosed "New Onset Persistent Headache". How's that for a generic term ? He put me on Topamax. This is a epilepsy drug but again at lower dosage treats pain. The best side effects are weight loss and change in taste buds (sweet stuff tastes foul).
I was diagnosed with gall-stone and internal hernia. Had the operations to fix them and that pain has gone away.
Still got the headaches though. But I have lost 35 lbs. :-)
Back to the neurologist.
Before the surgery I kept putting things off. I was never good enough. One of the benefits of WLS is that you start to believe in yourself. Check out my blog:
