Weight fluctuation is completely normal. If you're going to weigh daily, you have to get out of the mindset of getting upset if the numbers don't go down everyday. I'm a once a week weigh-in type person, because I don't want the scale to rule my life and my emotions/mood, like it did in the past. However, I was curious as to fluctuation, so I weighed daily for 4 days. Up 3 pounds one day, down 5 the next. So many factors go into your weight.

Just stick to your program, and you will have success.

Sorry, but at less than two weeks out from surgery you should not be munching in front of the TV and you should not be gaining weight.  You should be carefully following your surgeon's plan which at this point might be just liquids.

This is a time to learn new habits.  If you do what you always did, you will not lose weight.  Any surgery can be out eaten.

If you are getting too full from protein shakes, then drink them more slowly.  For the first few weeks, I had one shake a day and it took me about eight hours to fini**** one ounce at a time.

I am now at goal and that scares me more than when I was losing. I do weigh about every other day and have a top number that if I see that I know I need to refocus and look at what I am doing. Even at that I am careful to avoid just sitting in front of the tv and eating. Good luck and just stick to your plan. Don't obsess over the scale now as long as you are doing what you are supposed to do the numbers will come down.

Stay off the scale so often.  Weigh once a week.  Don't give the scale so much power.  If you follow your surgeon's program, you will lose weight.  Stay on track and you'll lose.

Eating out of habit is a red alert and a television muchie.  Those are habits that will not allow you to lose weight and long-term will cause weight regain.

It should scare you.  Take that fear and change now.

Thanks guys   I do realize scales can move due to fluid...Im weighing everyday for now bc it's exciting to finally see them go DOWN...but I have read many post here about the scale controlling ppl & I will keep that in mind...

I don't eat while watching tv (besides my protein drinks)  I'm following my Dr's orders...I didn't come this far to screw it all up....

it takes time to re train brain after years of eating like I did...and this tool (RNY) has already helped & will continue too....I guess sometimes esp being new at this, it still seems unreal & scary   but Im doing GREAT so far & learning a lot from you all
