Thanks! It's nice to know that some require a 90 day window post approval. So I will make sure to ask about this prior to submitting. That way I can plan accordingly. I will also make a point to email hr at work just in case I need to do surgery prior to work being out and plan to take 3 weeks. I have spring break coming so I can try to plan it around that then I would only need to take one unpaid week. This is also good info! Thanks for sharing different experiences. I have united healthcare and so far they have been pretty difficult and strict to work with so I don't want to risk my chances of anything happening to affect my chances of getting it.

I am also a teacher. My surgeon let me schedule for Christmas break even though I was technically "ready" by October. I had my surgery on Wed. before break.  So I took 3 days off. Then I had two weeks. It was plenty. I had all my plans done and copies made before I left. I was a little tired the first week back, but not too bad. By week 3 I had more energy than before surgery. Of course, everyone is different. Your surgeon would probably let you wait until summer.  And boy, you'd blow everyone away in the fall!

I know that would be the fun part... Leave for break only to return a portion of the person I was before :)!

Yeah something I am going to have to consider talking to the surgeon about. Not sure when that spot will be but I assume soon since the 12th is my last supervised diet appt.

I have a desk job and I took off two weeks.  I could have gone back in one week but everyone is different.
